Can you still upgrade for free from Windows 7/8/8.1 with a valid key as claimed at this web site? All the Ways You Can Still Get Windows 10 for Free

Just curious because I haven't installed Windows in several years; Linux is "donationware".

If you cannot upgrade a Windows 7/8/8.1 system to 10, then:

Windows 10 Home - USD 119.00

Windows 10 Professional - USD 199.00

Professional-security = Home-security + Windows Information Protection + Bitlocker

Productivity & User Experience is the same on both.

I noticed that a lot of folks still think that 8.1 provided a better experience than the current state of 10. [mention:4966e6ad97f64dac9ea8919abb220e1d:e9ed411860ed4f2ba0265705b8793d05] did you go from 8.1 to 10?

I bought some new devices that already had Windows 10. Since then I have struggled with all kinds of "changes" not all being good.

I've got that message but changing locale to English (US) fixed it. Media Creation Tool seems to be the way to go, others using Windows Update agent control with force-update seem to be seeing unusual failures.

That being said, Windows 10 is a bit hit and miss. Some things are better, some things are worse. Hopefully it improves over time.

Edit: check [Fix] “Something Happened” Error Message in Windows 10 Upgrade - AskVG for some possible solutions for anyone else getting this.

I usually wait a few months before I look at an update.

I got tired of doing the debugging of Microsoft's latest code.

Once it looks like the dust has settled I will probably upgrade.

I haven't taken the plunge on any of our devices - 1xW7 & 2xW8.1...........

Don't you just love it when you get "Error 87564192 Click here for further details/help" and when you do you get something like "non-specific error"
