I second Gervasi's opinion: A good parametric search engine is very very important. In fact thats one of the reasons I use farnell BUT it can be much better.
In addition the present search engine has no way of filtering out items which are no more stocked. Yes you can filter for stocked items only, but that will also remove those temporarily out of stock.
After all you rarely need to know what you can't get but rather what you can get. And _please_ make that the default option.
