Please Note: This process is irreversible. Once your account is made anonymous, you will no longer be able to log into your account, manage your content, and all references to the original author will be removed (instead, the username will be rendered as Former-User). This cannot be undone.

Q: How do I make my account/content anonymous or Delete my account?

A: Click on your user icon as it appears on the top right corner of the page, this will produce a drop down menu, select "Profile".

Click the "Delete Account" option shown below

Then click on 'Request Account Deletion'

How do I insert a Video or Image?

When you're editing content, click the 'insert' menu:

Then click the word 'Upload' and select your file.

Alternatively type or paste in the URL to a location where the image resides, and then specify the dimensions you want for the content

Wait for the image file to upload, and then click on 'OK'

The URL will accept most video providers, such as YouTube, Vimeo, Brightcove, etc. And can handle large video file uploads.

How to change or customise your avatar

When you've logged into your Community account, you can change your avatar by changing your profile settings.

On desktop:

Click on your temporary profile icon

Click on 'Profile'

Click 'Edit profile'

Click 'change' and you should be able to upload a new avatar

On mobile:

Press the down arrow in the top right

Press on the placeholder avatar:

Press on 'profile'

Press on 'edit profile'

Press on 'Change' where the placeholder avatar resides and upload a new avatar:

How do I earn a Certificate for viewing a Webinar or Webcast?

For some of our webinars that we present in Webinars, Training and Events, we have setup the ability for the attendee to gain a certificate.

This certificate usually shows that you've attended the webinar for a period of time, and that you have completed a test of some kind.

For example, if you watch the Introduction to the RP2040 and its Real World Uses webinar, you will be presented with a screen that includes a test that you can take, in this screenshot the test has been taken:

To see the criteria for gaining the certificate, click on the 'earn a certificate' icon:

This should pop-up the 'Earn Certification' box which will have the criteria for earning the certificate. If you've already completed the criteria, then you'll be able to click 'View Certificate' and download it:

If you watched the webinar live, and reached the criteria, then you may also have received the certificate via e-mail.

Where do I click?

Make sure you have the notifications turned on for the particular thread, blog or forum you want to receive notifications on.

For example in Community Hub blogs (/members-area/b/blog) you'll see the actions on the left hand side:

You can then click to turn blog notifications on, you can also bookmark the blog application. This should tell you when new blogs are posted to this application area, but not necessarily to the whole group as there may be other blog applications in this group.

If you only want notifications about a particular blog, click through to the blog and under the 'more' menu you will see:

Here you can turn comment notifications on for the blog, even if you didn't create it, and notifications for the blog application it resides in.

Documents have a similar option under 'Actions' but these options aren't hidden under a 'more' link (basically every 'group application) should have this type of widget):

Basically keep an eye out for 'more' links and 'action' widget sections, such as in RoadTests:

For design challenge enrollment pages:

For forum threads it may be hidden away on the post:

My content was migrated, but my embedded videos say it's still retrieving metadata?

You may be able to re-embed your video and prompt the site to update the status of the content.

- Edit your content and scroll down to the video embed.

- Click on the video embed, and then click on the 'edit' popup

If your video was uploaded into the Community site, it will have been uploaded into our third party host, Brightcove, and you'll see a Brightcove link - if it was youtube, you should see a youtube link:

- Copy the link from the URL field

Then go to the 'insert' menu and select 'image/video/file' :

- Paste the URL you had, or if you want, re-upload the video, then either wait for the video to upload or for the window to gather some information, set your fields, and then click on 'ok'

Your video should now be in the queue to be reprocessed.

What's an easy way that I can link my blogs or posts together?

insert Navigation Buttons!

You then paste in the link to the 'next' piece of content that's relevant, if there isn't a 'next' piece of content, simply put a '/' in.

Same for if there's a 'previous' piece of content that's relevant, if there isn't, put a '/' in.

Why can't I insert the same things into comments as I can into content?

Due to limitations with Verint you won't see the same 'insert' menu functionality everywhere, here's a quick guide:

If you find that the insert menu doesn't appear at all, then that's due to slow website performance or slow connectivity to the website at the time.

I've found spam, what should I do?

Under the 'more' function, or somewhere on the page in orange is a 'report as abusive' feature.

Use this and it'll send it to the moderation queue for element14 Community staff to handle.

You can report almost all content in this way, and even user profiles.

Content gets sent to the moderation queue via two methods:

1. User Reported

2. By the system software

Staff look at the moderation queue during (at least) UK working hours of 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday and release or act on it during those hours.

How to use tabbed content and filtered tables

Introduction

These two features are written so that if someone views the content in an email, activity stream, notification, or browser that's not running JavaScript, then the content will simply appear in a standard table.

Tabbed Content

This is an alternative way to present some content. If you put the command {tabbedtable} in the first column heading, you'll enable a feature which turns your table into a tabbed layout when you publish your changes.

From the 'Insert' menu:

This will give you a helper dialog which tells you how the feature works, and allow you to insert an example. It isn't essential that you do this each time you want to use this feature.. it's just a reminder of where you'd need to put your text and the {tabbedtable} command in a standard table.

After you publish your content, the table will be automatically turned into a tabbed layout like this;

Filtered Tables

This is really handy If you've got a table of data that you'd like to make searchable, or have the columns filterable. Simply put the text {searchbar} in any column heading if you want to make the table searchable, and use {filter} to display a drop-down filter.

When you're editing your content, click this icon in the editor toolbar;

How do I message another user?

You need to go to their profile page, such as:

Then click +Connect in the top right

If the user is a member of element14 Community staff, such as cstanton the Community Manager, you should be able to send them a private message. However if they're another user, you'll typically have to 'Request Friendship' first.

You should be notified when they accept. However, you won't be notified if they reject your invitation.

And the best method I then use is, go to the speech bubble:

Click on 'New Message'

Type in the username(s) of those you want to send the message to:

Then you can type in your message, and click 'send'.

You should always be able to send a message in this way to element14 staff and administrators.
