Thank you for sharing all the how-to details too.

I have a few projects that need to do nearly all of what you've just outlined, so your post is surely going to be a helpful guide for me.

ps, I think you gave the answer, but to double check - I thought NodeRed included MQTT, but it looks like you still had to install Mosquito. Does that mean NodeRed doesn't do it, or is Mosquito better?

I recognize the buck-boost board from some of my own projects.

I recently smoked and I mean literally let the smoke of out a Arduino Nano by reversing the 12V power. Your suggestion of pandemic brain fog leading to some miss-steps I don't think is so far off.

After the smoke cleared I sat with a burn't Nano in my hand looking at the clearly marked power rails wondering how the heck I made such a rookie mistake. I was troubleshooting a problem, with my mind three steps ahead of where I was at, pending results to be ready for the next step. How after hooking the device up three times to hook it up backwards the forth time is beyond me. I actually recall my brain telling me something wasn't right but some other mechanism forced me to ignore the message.

Great practice project that could have other applications. Thanks for the share.
