Hi Friends,

I have been thinking of wireless nodes for a while now and came up with the cheapest ever fully sustained

Features,  wireless node :

  • You can get a TI development board that already integrates those capabilities and provides you the free software.

     

    Go to the TI web site and look for 2.4Ghz wireless.

    @DAB ant dev kit from ti with 2.4hz Wireless if well above $50 mark , point of this was to make it cheep .

    True, but by the time you integrate all of your components, write your software and get everything working, you will spend way more than $50 trying to do it yourself.

     

    There are times when reinventing technology just does not make economical sense.  Plus your own design may not comply with all of the telecommunication protocols and standards.

     

    If you are just doing a demonstration exercise, then you get a lot of value in your learning experience.

    If you hope to market a product, you are going down a low probability path.

    @DAB , Well i do wanna get a intelligent system design out of collection of these nodes, + I was able to get the mote done within 10USD,and i don't need anything else , just filling up the recommended design from TI, so when i mentioned ~10USD, I meant total cost not prototype cost. Creation of PCB's will make it much more smaller, portable and economical.

     

    Moreover I already have nRF24l01 Driver for ENERGIA (Arduino like IDE) so just have to brush up things, (+ its Arduino Compatible)

     

    and i do have some intentions for marketing the product , but not just a generic purpose another board , instead some application based product which may be of help to common people .

     

    This IC is a new emerging standard, i.e. RF24 NETWORK , and is capable of forming a Tree/Star network which means, if you are a hacker , you can now go wireless.

     

    And when "arduino" was born , there were 10 of 1000's of Atmega32 dev boards, I was using one that time. The only thing that people really want are rapid prototypes or making things quickly with least amount of Development Effort, + what's the harm in going wireless without costly Shields !!

     

    and for the record, cheapest wireless kit i found is 25$ BLE Sensor TAG from TI , but you really cannot use them in projects.

     

    I really Appreciate your inputs, but just wanna get to know why you think this is not a good idea ??

    Both have a good point. All this is taking risks and testing, what if this, what if that. Keep on going with your project, you never know. Look at what is in the market and do as them but better and cheaper. Just by trying always produces great results.

    For us watching, I have that wifi device at home and an MSP430 as well. So for some of us it is interesting because is something to build with what we already have.

    Keep it up, nice job. That wifi device is pretty interesting.

    It is not a bad idea, I am just wanting to see your motivation.

    I cringe when I see people duplicating existing devices from scratch.  Yes you can do it, but it takes time and effort away from new ideas.

    So I am not negative on your project in any way, I just wanted to make sure you understood the alternatives.
