Of course as with any tech there are advantages and disadvantages.
First of all having better range could be a negative if not designed properly. If fencing is inaccurate the kid could be pretty far away, still has connectivity and the system could assume it is still within the premises. If it was good old shitty WiFi it would simply loose range and alert the system. So it will be imperative to have a really accurate GPS perimeter.

Secondly I like the idea of the public places with LoRaWAN gateways where you can also use it for free. This is the whole idea behind LoRaWAN and stuff like TTN for example. However one problem could be that you really need a very dense coverage cause if you loose connectivity you have no way to transmit the GPS data, so for example if god forbid the kid gets kidnapped there will be no way to track it I guess. Not that taking the watch out wouldn't kill any system, LoRaWAN or not [View:/resized-image/__size/16x16/__key/commentfiles/f7d226abd59f475c9d224a79e3f0ec07-27442717-b0c0-4a29-b714-c42ac8d5ea42/contentimage_5F00_1.png:16:16]
Anyways just wanted to give feedback, the idea is good, has potential, but the the big bad telecoms already have their grabby hands on this segment with cheap cellular kid tracking watches. I would love for someone to give them the middle finger with a free LoRa solution. But to be honest I do not see it happening. Still I am rooting for you bro.I hope I helped more than I was annoying [View:/resized-image/__size/16x16/__key/commentfiles/f7d226abd59f475c9d224a79e3f0ec07-27442717-b0c0-4a29-b714-c42ac8d5ea42/contentimage_5F00_1.png:16:16]

RE: Smart Little/Special Child Safety Watch

Hi Mahmood

Sounds like an incredibly useful project.
