Yes but the UNO is one of the few where you can simply replace the chip when you blow it and also use it as a programmer and pull the chip for your project board. I like it for this reason
Fully agree. My favourite is the Nano because it can be plugged directly into a breadboard for prototyping and then soldered to a pcb or fitted to a DIL socket for final projects.
I guess the question depends on the intended use and the target audience. I picked Uno because of the price point and because so many examples are based on it. And usually when someone asks this question it's because they are just starting out with Arduino
