SPI tutorial

Question

I have looked everywhere but have not found a good SPI tutorial. I need to connect a SPI device to the zedboard and be able to read and write from the Zync to internal registers of the device on my custom PMOD via SPI (port JA1). Anyone have a good general purpose tutorial?

You can download the Maxim project files from the link on the Accessories page on this site. These project files include interface though the PMOD ports to SPI, I2C, GPIO and other standards. It includes a little terminal interface menu in the main program, drivers and the Verilog logic for selecting port and mode (such as SPI). It even includes a little routine to send outputs to the on board OLED display. Also, the set of 15 Maxium peripheral boards is a great selection of peripherals, drivers, and software to get you going very quickly on many interfaces. A fabulous deal for the $90.
