MicroZed Hardware Design Why do brand new microzeds have a bunch of re-work?

Why do brand new microzeds have a bunch of re-work?

I've been battling a reliability issue with my collection of microzed boards (See post: 1V Power Rail Question) and I noticed something.

All of my microzeds have a bunch of hand re-work in several places across the board. You can tell from the residual solder flux and parts placement.

So why would brand new microzeds have a bunch of re-work?

    This should not be the case. We are investigating now with our CM. Sorry for the trouble.

    Has there been any updates on this?  I'm about to purchase a micro ZED (it's cheaper than buying a new debug license) and am holding off until I hear more about this.

    I can't speak to the re-work issue yet, but I can say that I think my reliability issues are self inflicted.

    I am communicating to some daughter cards over LVDS. I did a really poor job of ensuring that the daughter cards were fully powered up before the LVDS outputs came on.

    Also, my main power to the microzed started up with some nasty transients. This is all on me; my bad.

    We're using the microzed in several projects and are pretty happy so far.

    Here is the response from our CM:

    We did inspect all the material we have on hand (Finished Good and WIP) and no issues were detected.
