Different sizes of .hdf files

Hello everyone,

i have a problem with the size of the HDF file. The size of the HDF file from the "PetaLinux 2014.4 Compressed BSP, z7010" is 338,8 kB. If i rerun synthesis, implementation and export the hardware, the file is 330,9 kB.
I use this files for petalinux. Petalinux works with both but not the jtag debugging.
My setup:
Linux Mint 64 bit VM
Petalinuxtools, Vivado, SDK 2014.4
Digilent HS2 jtag cable

For development and debugging i use SDK (UG1144).

Not sure what is causing the difference in size of the HDF file, but the HDF is really just a zip archive type file.
You could use 7zip or similar program to open the HDF files and examine to see what the differences between the two files are.

Hi Gary,
i unzip it last day. There are differences between
ARM_PS_bd
ps7_init.c
ps7_init.h
ps7_init.html
ps7_init.html
ps7_init_gpl.c
I have no idea where the differences come from.
It's not only the HDF file from "PetaLinux 2014.4 Compressed BSP, z7010". If i only export HDF from older projects, the size is the same but when im resynthesize and reimplement the design, there are differences.

ok i think i solved it. If i export the hardware in a linux host, the size of the hdf file is smaller. In a windows host, the size is ok.
In the ARM_PS_bd.tcl file, generatet with the linux host, there are no clk entries. I investigate the installation of vivado on linux now.

Sebastian,

You may have run into the problem mentioned in these Xilinx and ZedBoard forum posts. Vivado running under Linux seems to have an issue if the regional setting is other than 'US'. In these cases changing the Linux regional setting to 'US' corrects the issue.

thanks for your reply. With this fix, the HDF have different sizes too but the contents of the files are the same. Debugging works now.
