Trouble connecting via JTAG to PicoZed 7015/7030

Hello,

I designed a custom carrier board for the PicoZed 7015/7030 and am trying to connect to its JTAG port using a JTAG-SMT2 USB to JTAG module. The problem is that it seems to recognize I'm connected to FPGA through the JTAG-SMT2 board, but I then get an error that states

"Could not find ARM device on the board for connection"

I have verified that my connection process is correct by successfully connecting to a ZedBoard via JTAG

Looking at the device manager, when I connect to the Zedboard, it shows up under 'Ports' as a USB Serial Port. However, when I connect to my custom carrier board/ PicoZed through the JTAG-SMT2, it doesn't show up under Ports, but rather just under Universal Serial Bus controllers as a 'USB Serial Converter'.

Is this a driver problem?

Can you send me your schematic for review? I don't believe your encountering a driver issue.

Hi Josh,
Thanks for getting back to me. The schematic below shows our connections from the JTAG-SMT2 board. Note that VREF should be connected to 3V3, not 1V8. This has been corrected on the hardware.

Does this symptom usually indicate there is a hardware problem? I'm trying to determine what the best path is to go down to try and tackle this.

Sorry for the delay.
I am not sure, are you in contact with you local Avnet FAE?
Looking at your schematic, it slighly varies from what we used on the UltraZed EG IOCC. Please take a look at that.
My suggestion would be to contact your local Avnet FAE for support.

Hi Josh,
How can I get in touch with the local Avnet FAE here? I'm located in Madison, WI.
It looks like the UltraZed EG IOCC uses 1V8 logic level for JTAG. That's what we want, correct?

Hello,
I would advise against setting the logic levels to 1.8V as in that design it is targeting the Zynq MPSoC 3EG device. I believe 3.3V is fine for your design. I was more so refering to the termination resistors and how all jtag signals are pulled up. Also do you have a Jtag Header you can use to plug a external jtag cable onto?

Ok I will keep it at 3V3 logic level. What termination resistors are you referring to? I believe the PicoZed has pullups on all the JTAG lines.
