Picozed 7020 sd card boot not working

Hi Iam developed a carrier card for picozed 7020 som. Carrier card have ethernet and sd card boot interface. When i boot through qspi mode board was booting since no uart interface provide i cant see the booting but fpga done indication through led in my carrier card glows. But when i made a boot image for booting from sd card it is not booting and fpga done led also not glowing. Pls help me.

matlab simulink support?

Does this SOM and the carrier board compatible to matlab simulink or do i need other external tools?

I’m interested in your Picozed product and support Zynq-7000 SoC family and I have the following questions

When ordering your product (ex.AES-Z7PZ-7Z010-SOM-G/REVE), does that include both the SoC and the board? And if yes, are they soldered together already?
Is AES-Z7PZ-7Z010-SOM-G/REVE and AES-Z7PZ-7Z015-SOM-I-G/REV-E different board or they just come with different SoC but the same board?
If they are different board, where do I choose which SoC to put on when I order?

How to interface HDMI display i2c touch Picozed (xc7z030)?

I want to interface hdmi with PICOZED(XC7Z030) but there should be i2c touch.

I am using vivado 2022.2 and vitis 2022.2

I refer your design but not get clear id, how you hdmi display i2c touch.

can you please explain it 1. why you use second axi_gpio_1 (pl_pbs_5bits). and how your device know its i2c touch.

do not understand which pin are given to axi_gpio_1.

3. sdk there is no platform and application. please share proper vitis application.

4. without using rgb to vga is only using axi iic ip we got the hdmi display i2c touch? if yes ? how?

Hi Team,

I've my new Picozed FMC Carrier Card Gen 2 equiped with Picozed 7015/7030 SOC on it.

I've successfully done booting through SD card with a prebuilt petalinux image. 2021.1

when i write command lsblk or lspci, it's not listing my WD Blue SN580 NVMe ssd connected to it.

Any solution for this?

Zynq 7020 SD FAT corruption

Hi there!

I'm encountering a very nasty FAT corruption problem. The problem appears systematically after a first write in a file stored in an uSD card.

There is a workaround: to place the file at the very beginning of the uSD card or in the first 2Gb of uSD space. In this case the problem is avoided whaterver the number of writes (hundreds) !

The problem does not appear during file reads. For instance I can place the BOOT.BIN at the very end of the uSD card (after 23Gb of data) and the system boots OK every time! I manage to read without probles configuration files placed also at the high end of the uSD capacity.

The FAT corruption is quite strange since I use standard ff.c functions (version R0.10b, 19 May 2014, included in Vivado 2015.2 ) in order to open the pre-existing file and to write data into.

The file is contiguous and its size remains constant so there should be no cluster allocation/change. Despite this after the first write in the file I see the first sector number truncated. Runing chkdsk detects an file entry crossing which is quite abnormal since once again I use standard access functions.

My application:

-Bare Metal on PicoZed (Zynq 7020)

-Vivado 2015.2 (project legacy reasons)

-xilffs 3.0

-uSD SanDisk MaxEndurance, 32Gb HC I U3 C10

-Standard factory FAT32 formatting (512bytes sector size, 32768bytes cluster size).

I force a uSD check-up and the card is free from errors prior to an atomic writing. After a first write, if the file is in a "high" position the portion of FAT concerning the respective file appears to be corrupted.

One hypothesis is that the initial formatting of the uSD is not compatible with the xilff library. What formatting works for you and with what capacity ?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.!!!

Picozed Not Booting sometimes

Hi Team,

I've my new Picozed FMC Carrier Card Gen 2 equiped with Picozed 7015/7030 SOC on it.

I've successfully done booting through SD card with a prebuilt petalinux image.

Now most of the time, board is not booting up properly

it's showing kernal panic error and getting stuck during booting process

Because of this i even can't access the root directory.

Any solution for this?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a camera module (including lens) that can be made to quickly interface with PicoZed? I need the PicoZed to retrieve the video data and place it into a UDP packet for decoding at a remote location. Other than the desire for a sub $100 camera/lens cost and an industrial temperature range, I really just want camera video to stream to the PicoZed in some common format that the PicoZed can insert into outgoing UDP.

XC7Z010 not able to bootup with DDR3L ( MT41K256M16TW-107 AUT:P) operating frequency of 533MHz

Hi,

we are facing the issue while booting up with 533MHz operating speed of DDR3L.

Processor Part number : XC7Z010-2CLG400I

DDR3L Part number : MT41K256M16TW-107 AUT:P

Case 1: we have configured DDR3L operating speed to 533.333MHz in Vivado and build the project same as Pico Zed board ( Pico Zed board operating frequency is 533.333MHz)

Observation: only 3 lines were printed after that there is no progress after this lines

U-Boot 2022.01-00194-gb31476685d (Sep 20 2022 - 06:35:33 +0000)

CPU: Zynq 7z010
Silicon: v3.1
DRAM: ECC disabled 1 GiB

Case 2: configured the DDR3L operating frequency to 303MHz in Vivado

Observation: Board is booted up and no errors found.

We required to operate with 533.333MHz i request any suggestion can be helpful to resolve my issue.

Let me know if we need to change the DDR timings.

Zynq Z7020 on picozed fried during SW download

I purchased a picozed 7Z20 and made a custom carrier board for it. I was able to power it on and get the FPGA DONE LED to light up, I was able to program the Zynq chip PL through VIVADO, and I was able to begin programming the PS through vitis. towards the end of downloading my SW to the board I lost JTAG connection and I am afraid my Z720 chip is now dead, it gets instantly hot when powered on and draws around 3x the current it did when I first booted it up.

the board had been on for a fair amount of time, 10 minutes of power cycling it while trying to get it set up on a test bench, probably 5 minutes of me setting up and downloading the PL firmware a couple of times, 20 minutes between then and trying the SW download.

I'm wondering if anyone might have any insight into what went wrong here, Is it possible for the chip to overheat and kill itself?, I don't have any heatsink or fan on the chip but I figured there was some built in thermal protection but maybe I'm wrong. Otherwise, I'm not sure what might have happened if it was working fine. I doubt JTAG programming could fry the chip

Does the Xilinx part on the board wait for the entire boot load to finish before it starts running or does it start right after BIT file is loaded?

Hi, I'm trying to boot Petalinux on Picozed7020 + FMCv1 using QSPI and eMMC. I've made the configurations using petalinux-config.

boot image settings -> primary_flash

kernel image settings -> prinary_sd

SD/SDIO settings -> ps7_sd_1

Also the constant 0 feeding to the SDIO1_CDN pin in block design.

Why u-boot tries to boot using MMC Device 0?

U-boot gives that message:

Card did not respond to voltage select!

MMC Device 0 not found.

no mmc device at slot 0

Band34/35 on picozed 7030 SOM

Hello, we have a design that used picozed 7020. But it is very hard to get the SOM. However, we do have some picozed 7030 SOMs from other projects. We are trying to replace the 7020 with 7030 SOM with upgraded firmware design. There is one issue regarding the bank34/35. The 7030 user manual (page 31) says the bank34 and 35 on 7030 SOM are 1.8 ONLY since they are high performance band. Our 7020 design uses 3.3V for IO. Will this 3.3V for band34/35 on 7030 cause problems ?

Ethernet problem with PicoZed 7015 and FMC Carrier Card Gen2

Hello,

For one of my project, I'm using the PicoZed 7015 with the FMC carrier card Gen2. I use the BSP pre-built images (rootfs.wic) in order to flash the sd-card for the moment.

I have a problem with the ethernet connection, it keeps going down and up and the link is not recognised. I have tested with BSP 2020-2 and 2021-1 for pz7015, it looks like the same behavior occurs. The ethernet connection is working fine with the PicoZed 7020 and FMC carrier card Gen2 with BSP 2020-2 for pz7020 pre-built images.

Does anyone ever encountered this problem ? Do you have any idea where it could come from ?

PicoZed bare-metal eMMC CSD register ECC field setting?

I'm using a PicoZed 7015 with Xilinx SDK 2018.3 in a bare-metal application. Everything works reading and writing to the eMMC with the default setting of ECC disabled. I have a high reliability application in mind and I'm wondering what would happen if I changed the ECC field in the eMMC's CSD register from the default no ECC to the optional BCH(542,512) ECC encoding. Would I still be able to read/write to the eMMC normally with the eMMC internally protecting the contents with ECC at the cost of reduced memory capacity, or would a special driver on the host be needed to encode/decode ECC reads/writes?

I wasn't able to find a definitive answer to this question, so I thought I would just try to set the ECC field to BCH encoding and see what would happen.

What I believe I need to do is read the eMMC CSD register using CMD9, keep the CSD contents the same except for my change, write the CSD contents with my change back to the eMMC CSD register using CMD27 (after computing a new CSD CRC7 field?) and then re-read the eMMC CSD register with another CMD9 to confirm my changes actually made it in.

I have not been able to get this process to work. One of the problems I have is when I try to go from the eMMC Transfer State (trans) back to the Standby State (stby) to execute another CMD9 to re-read the CSD register and confirm I have the ECC field updated, the CMD7 I execute with a Relative Card Address of 0x0000 that's supposed to send me back to the Standby State (stby) fails with a timeout.

As a sanity check, I tried just reading the CSD register with CMD9, issuing a CMD7 with the assigned RCA to move to the Transfer State (trans) and immediately move back to the Standby State (stby), but that fails with a timeout just like before. The figure below (from the JESD84-B50 JEDEC eMMC standard that the 8GB Micron MTFC8GAKAJCN-4M IT on the PicoZed BOM says it complies with) shows the sanity check I tried to perform:

So I must be missing something fundamental on how to get back to Standby State (stby). If anyone out there is knowledgeable about eMMC state machine programming, please give me a few pointers. Thanks for your time.
