Picozed SDR breakdown

Hi, I'm working on Picozed SDR 2x2 SOM board (I bought a software development kit). I wanted to connect the board to a portable battery and use it, and in the process, the board seems to have overcurrent. After a little noise, the board was turned off, and after that, the board will not turn on.

Is the board completely broken? Or can you tell me how to solve this problem?

Also, if the board is totally broken, do I have to buy all the new parts?

Do you have a multi-meter? This would help trace the problem on the board.

Dear All

I am working on picozed sdr som (adrv9361-z7035 ) . downloaded the reference design (HDL - linux OS) and then inserted ILA to see the samples on ADC path and DAC path. On ADC path I observed some samples but on DAC the data is zero. kindly help me how to do this loop back (RF RX--->RF TX) .

i had same problem and here is how i fixed it:

in <your_board>_defconfig file add

CONFIG_CMD_SF=y

CONFIG_ZYNQ_QSPI=y

and i also added the followong lines, but i am not sure if we really need all of them:

CONFIG_SPI_FLASH=y

CONFIG_SPI_FLASH_BAR=y

CONFIG_SPI_FLASH_MACRONIX=y

CONFIG_SPI_FLASH_SPANSION=y

CONFIG_SPI_FLASH_STMICRO=y

CONFIG_SPI_FLASH_WINBOND=y

Hopefully this will work for others...

Unable to find device: No such device.

After compiling the FPGA and using cammand:

"sudo iio_reg cf-ad9361-lpc 0x8xxxxxxx" I get: 'Unable to find device: No such device'

I do not have any timing errors. This seems to happen randomley after a recompile. This seems to be happenning more often and after a recompile this error goes away. Some time it takes several recompiles. Any ideas what to look for?

We plan on using the PicoZed kit:

1) It shows that the band is 70MHz to 6GHz. We were wondering if the kit is ever run up to 6GHz or rather, is it practical. What's the typical operating range?

2) I got the user's manual 1.2 and near the end it states that the datasheet uses narrowband baluns while the test uses wideband baluns for the PicoZed SDR Z7035/AD9361. Is it confirmed that this model uses wideband baluns (or both)?

3) Where can we find a footprint of the chip? I don't think the manual has a clear one.

Hello,

1. For the PicoZed SOM, the only Carrier Card we hvae available that oprates with it is the PicoZed FMC V2. However, this does not prevent you from making your own custom carrier card. The PicoZed SOM requires a Carrier Card to operate.

2. For information on LEDs and switches please refer to the Hardware User Guide on the FMC V2 Carrier http://zedboard.org/support/documentation/13076

3. The PicoZed can be used for General Zynq 7000 All Programmable SoC prototyping. It is not application specific. However please verify it meets all your needs before purchasing be refering to the Hardware User Guide for both the SOM and Carrier Card

4. The PicoZed FMC V2 Carrier Card has User Leds and push buttons. Please refer to the FMC V2 Carrier Card HW User Guide.

5.System on Module(SOM) or - This is refering to the module that plugs onto the carrier card. This SOM Guide goes into further details http://zedboard.org/content/design-it-or-buy-it

System on Chip(SoC) - This is refering to the Zynq device that has both Programmable Logic and the Processing System in single device

Hi, Will someone help me questions related to picozed board,

1. Will you please tell me if carrier card is compulsory to work with picozed card?

2. how many user programmable switches and LEDs are available on the picozed board?

3. In the possible application areas for zedboard, its mentioned on the avnet website that, it can be used for "General Zynq-7000 All Programmable SoC prototyping". The same application is missing in picozed description. I am really worried that, if I buy picozed, can't I use picozed for general prototyping?

    4. Zedboards has user programmable LEDs,and switches. The similar ones seems to be missing in picozed. How to program picozed for applying inputs in real time from switches and observing LEDs from output?

    5. Difference between system on module(SoM) and system on chip(SoC)

6. Can I use XADC in picozed without any issues?

As Josh said, ADI has taken on all support for PZSDR now.

We did see a similar issue early on - http://zedboard.org/content/cannot-ping-picozed-matlab-again

Perhaps the ADI team have since diagnosed the issue and have a solution (?).

No Network Activity on Ethernet

Hello,

I may have a problem with one of my PicoZed SDRs. It seems the Ethernet PHY has an issue. Linux boots the PHY without a problem and can read/write from/to the PHY, but anything external doesn't see any activity. For example, basic network functions such as ping won't work.

We tried multiple carrier cards, and the problem appears to follow the SOM. Using a new SOM fixes the problem.

HW mac addr

Hi, I have spent some time trying to see where the board gets its mac addr from for eth0 and I am now stumped. This is a unique address which is on a sticker on the SOM. I thought perhaps this was programed into the EEPROM, but this is blank. Can anyone tell me where this is actually set?

Undeterminated start state

Hi, nice to meet you everyone.

Within a University Research Project, I'm working on a PicoZed SDR platform (PicoZed+PicoZed SDR) to implement a full duplex SDR able to communicate with some RFID-like tags.

The communication paradigm is quite simple: the SDR shall modulate an 5.8GHz RF carrier through an ASK modulation scheme (simply putting MIN_DAC,MAX_DAC values on the sample input port), and after that during a MAX_DAC interval belonging to a full continuous wave period such wave will be used by the tag to modulate its data through a switching diode.

The radio works almost all the time.

The problem is that sometimes, at the power-up and after the PLL is locked (that's verified through the AD9364 SPI registers state), the 9364 seems to totally ignore the sample stream which I send synchronous with the DATA_CLK and TX_FRAME signals. Looking through a spectrum analyzer, the PLL seems to be well-locked, but the carrier level is the same as when I put a flow of all zeros as samples: changing samples does not change anything.

When this happens, the radio must be switched off, resetted and restarted to restore the full functionality. This way, the "zero" RF carrier level is the same as in radio-stuck case, while the "one" RF carrier level belongs to the maximal output power.

I'm using Vivado 2017.3.1, and all the timing constraints are met. Also verifying through the oscilloscope, the samples are correctly sent both when the radio started well or not.

Actually I put a workaround making the radio resetting itself until a valid tag answer is obtained, but I would not apply such scheme in the final implemented product.

Have you any idea?

Windriver Pulsar linux image for Picozed-7035 SOM

Where to get the image of this linux for further development ?

It is not available in the repository of windriver - https://distro.windriver.com/public_feeds/WindRiver-Pulsar-Linux-Avnet-PicoZed-image/Releases/Latest/

Latest available is that of picozed 7030.

Is Picozed 7030 similar to Picozed 7035 som?

In picozed sdr kit using vivado i made a design with zynq processing system and axi gpio. in XDC file gave pin number of led on board. Exported the design to sdk and there wrote a code for LED togging. I program the bit file to fpga . In software icon of application project in sdk i right clicked and run as - launch on hardware. But leds are not blinking. Pls guide me what is missed by me?
