RZ-Board HDMI issue

Hi,

I uploaded the latest image from the AVNET website to my Rzboard, and now I am getting a display flickering issue.

Upload image: avnet-core-image-rzboard-20241025085125.rootfs.wic

Kernel Version 5.10.201

Note: kernel version 5.10.83 is okay for me. Looks like kernel version 5.10.201 is not working properly

I have attached a video for reference.

Please help me.

RZ Board Flash Utility

I plan to use the RZ Board Flash Utility to upgrade the bootloader and system image files using the option.

./flash_rzboard.py --full

Please let me know if the following physical settings remain the same for both bootloader and system image download.

Place RZBoard into “SCIF download boot-mode” by setting BOOT[2:0] to b101 ie.

- Set BOOT2=1 by strapping J19-pin1 to +5V (ie. connect it to J1-pin2 on the 40pin header)

- Set BOOT1=0 by strapping SW1.1 = ON

- Set BOOT0=1 by removing SD card from MicroSD slot

Hi, old thread, but this information is part of the RZ flash utility instructions (that go to stdout when running the utility).

The dipswitch configuration varies by flashing EMMC or QSPI. Please refer to hardware user guide(s).

A --full will involve boot1 strapping at first, but once the bootloader is done installing, you will power down RZBoard, remove the strapping cable, and power back on the RZBoard for the rootfs to flash.

I'm using

Poky (Yocto Project Reference Distro) 3.1.14
Linux rzboard 5.10.83-cip1-g11a8126702 #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Apr 5 23:00:00 UTC 2011

I also tried compiling and running app_hrnet_cam and even after some minor changes, the furthest it can get is
VIDIOC_STREAMON, where it always fails with EPIPE. This is consistent with the yavta errors

The V4L documentation suggest EPIPE means the media-ctl commands are wrong.

Is there any other camera known to work besides ov5640? How about ov5647. I built the driver and tried it but, media-ctl won't even recognize it.

Appreciate some help.

Here's the custom kernel I got from Evan. Thanks again Evan. He disabled the ISP on the Renesas chip. There's another ISP on the sensor itself that can downscale, but I was told it's not possible to use 640x480 because Renesas's DVP pixel clock cannot be that slow.

Also, this is the firmware version I'm using that was preinstalled with the board. Maybe there's a newer prebuilt one?
