u-boot support for Mini-ITX

The u-boot-xlnx git repo does not seem to support creating a u-boot config for the Mini-ITX platform (I have the z100 variety), but it does support Zedboard and many other Avnet products. I see that there is a "patch" available on Zedboard.org for u-boot-xlnx allowing you to do a "make zynq_mitx_config". However it only works for version 2015.3 and other versions will bomb with the patch applied.

So my question is, what is the best guidance on what to do for a latest-and-greatest u-boot to support Mini-ITX designs? I'm growing more reluctant to using a 2015.3 version in 2017.

Should I use the Zedboard config? Would that even work? Or should I continue using the patched 2015.3 version and not worry about it?... Or something else?

    Hi rmm92vt,

You can find the working u-boot image for the Mini-ITX board as part of the PetaLinux 2016.2 BSP located at

    http://zedboard.org/support/design/2056/17

This post also covers your issue http://zedboard.org/content/avnet-mini-itx-board-u-boot-problem

Fantastic! Thanks Josh. This will get me rolling with the 2016.2 tools at least. Any idea why this platform is not being directly supported from within the u-boot-xlnx repo? I have the identical question on the Xilinx forum waiting for a reply. Getting the u-boot.elf via petalinux BSP installation works for now, but I would really like to be able to build my own, say for the 2016.4 tools...

    Hi Bob,

I believe it is due to the Mini_ITX being an Avnet branded product so Xilinx will not maintain it.

If you want to use the 2016.4 tools you should look at generating your own BSP. Please refer to this post http://zedboard.org/content/how-bsp-files-added-sdk
