Ultra96-V2 2021.2 student.zip file for SW Training

FPGARenegade
FPGARenegade 11 months ago

Hello,

I am attempting to traverse the Ultra96-V2 2021.2 training. The software track (which is recommended first) relies on files installed from a .zip file called student.zip. I have not been able to find this file. Can someone kindly point me to where I can download this file so I can continue on my journey?

Thanks,

Jon

I am working off of the SW Lab Solutions.7z for the 2021.2 MPSoC SW track you pointed to earlier in the chat. If nothing else, I need the .xsa file from the solutions. Also, thank you for indicating that…

I dont know which student.zip you have mentioned here.

As far as I can see from Avnet Ultra96 Training Courses 2021.2, which directs to element14 Avnet Boards, where if you click on Enter training area ( of Ultra96 Training Courses 2021.2 ,Path to Programmable III), directs to Avnet Boards Technical Training Courses.

On clicking on software , Ultra96-V2 Software Technical Training 2021.2: Lesson 1  appears. Under Lab Practicum, there are three downloadable files, but none has label of  student.zip. You can start journey from here.

I see I can get the .xsa file for Lab1 from the solutions. Lab0 indicated to unzip student.zip into the directory structure on the VM.

    Thanks!

Yes, in the pdf of Lab0, its mentioned in Experiment 3: Setting Up Avnet Technical Training Course Lab Files

    1) Ultra96 users attending the Developing Zynq-MPSoC Software course will need to extract the
contents of the ZynqSW_2021_1_student.zip file archive to the following folder:

    2) Ultra96 users attending the Developing Zynq-MPSoC Hardware course will need to extract the
contents of the ZynqHW_2021_1_student.zip file archive to the following folder:

It looks Avnet used to provide student.zip in 2021.1 and pdf is outdated and not updated. The URL which I have mentioned is for 2021.2. In fact,I have completed training using the same weblinks, that is, used instructions as given in 2021.2 pdfs, on both 2023.1 and 2023.2 but never felt the need anytime of student.zip.

Yes, from Lab1, design_1_wrapper.xsa is there in the zip.

I have finally completed both the SW and HW tracks for the Ultra96 P2P training thanks to advice from abhishek2018. I built the .xsa required for the SW training using the HW training as required for the .xsa file. There are many discrepancies between the text and the figures in the training instructions. Vitis also has some bugs to get used to working around while importing projects from prior labs.

On to the Petalinux track. I was unsuccessful at building Petalinux three years ago so this should be a good learning experience.

I finally completed all of the PetaLinux Labs. I didn't do any extra credit work. The documentation has many errors/typos. It was a great learning experience. Getting the azure-iot account took more time than expected. I had to work with one of thier online chat people. Once the account was in place, the lab requireing it went smoothly. I had to navigate to the URL as indicated in the lab to set up the sensor node. Often when a petalinux build failed it just had to be run again; sometimes at a different time of day as mirrors may be down.

Thanks again to abhishek2018 for being helpful.
