my ethernet port for the new zedborad does not show any lights with cable plug?

      Dear all,

Please read my email! The ZedBoard I got from AVNET worked correctly except the ETHERNET port that never connected and I contacted Avent within two days of receiving the board precisely 3rd February 2017.

I thought it was technical issue of software but the port does not light up and no networking working at all. I personally bought this board for my  dissertation not a university and I have only 3 weeks to start making up reports for my design/implementation.

Please how do I change this board?

I don't have time to go round circles.. You can confirm from Analog devices where I bought the RF transceiver(AD-FMCOMM4-EBZ) : the forum (EngineerZone). They started assisting me from Feb 3rd. Because of how I reported it, We thought it was software issue--but when I made it clearer, they confirmed that there is no IP and as I observed the lights on the Ethernet port was off in-spite of cable plugged in to PC and board.

I don't think you have not got my point here. My work is at a dead end without the ETHERNET port; because my work involves HIL from SIMULINK.

Please let me know how to package the board back for Ethernet port fix or a replacement; since I don't have time.

Please any  response?, I need someone  to contact me with details of what I can do to send it.

      Regards.

    Hi Wills,

I am unsure as to whom you emailed in regards to your issue, could you provide the email address so I can follow up with them? This forum is the best place for you to get the help you need. To start off I would like to ask you to clarify a few things for me.

Could you please provide a link to the forum thread that Analog Devices was helping you solve your issue on.

The connection from your PC to your ZedBoard is not encrypted in any way correct? Or is your PC setup to not provide a connection to external devices? I have experienced this issue where the Ethernet port light is not working, in my case it was due to my ethenet connection being encrypted. I ended up having to use a different ethernet connection source that was not encrypted to get the ethernet port to enumerate.

Could you try a test for me? I would like you to connect your Zedboard through the ethernet port to a modem or some hardwire ethernet connection. Make sure this ethernet connection has no encryption or log in type data nessecary to connect to. Then check if the Ethernet port led it on.

I would find it really odd if your ethernet port hardware is malfunctioning as I have not heard of any reported failures. I would most likely assume it is just an internet connection issue. However I will contact a few people and see if they have experienced this issue and report back to you. Please let me know how your test went.

    Thanks,

    Josh

    Hi Wills,

If the ethernet port still does not light up and you still would like to have it returned, you will need to RMA the board through whomwever you purchased the board from. You should call the sales office that you dealt with.

    Thanks,

    Josh

    Hi Josh,

The link to the thread of discussions with Analog Devices EZ is https://ez.analog.com/thread/91929    AND

    https://ez.analog.com/message/288817?commentID=288817&et=watches.email.thread#comment-288817

. I discussed with Di Pu, Lars and Rajeesh.image

The green Leds on the Port are off and no connection... Only USB-serial peripheral connection works.. it boots to show digilent on OLED.

Please i want to change the board or have it quickly fixed .. I have not implemented anything since first of Feb ..when it was delivered.

I started telling Avnet about this from 3rd Feb .. 2 days after purchase and No one came up like you are doing now (10 days of suspense).

    Thanks.

Please be rest assured that everything else about this board works as user guide says--HDMI, VGA, LED,OLED, SDcard etc

    I need urgent help.

    Hi Jos,

I sent email to the following:

           1.     Onlinesupportus@avnet.com

         2.   EM-WEB-ORDERS@Avnet.com

           3.    international2@avnet.com

       AND....

           4.    avnetsales@avnet.com

No one is telling how a brand new board I got from Avnet AMERICA on the 1st of Feb. , can be replaced or Ethernet port remedied... I will handle the shipment as I did when I purchases it (75 GBP) .. my last post show that the IC net to the port heats UP.

    Please hep!!!!

    Hello Chika,

Unfortunatly we do not deal with sales or returns on the forum. You will need to contact directly whom ever you purchased the board from. I would imagine there would be a customer service phone number that you could call to directly deal with an individual.

For instance please look at the customer care section on the website and call Avnet to get this issue solved.

    Hi Josh,

I am happy with Avnet replacing my board:   tey did weel 1

I have tried to run the example again and I get:

The new error in both cases ie MATLAB/SIMULINK is:

“ COULD NOT CONNECT TO IIO server ”

The model from the site is ad9364_sim.slx

    image

    image

Take a look, though the script is for ad9361; I changed the s.dev_name = ’ad9364’ since my device is AD-FMCOMMS4-EBZ

    BUT
You can see after line 12, that the S (system object) did not return the cell array expected  but -1  => S is destroyed  and it stops execution at line 14 ..

The networking between Zedboard Gigabit Ethernet port and PC  Ethernet port is ok (a cross over cable is used and I can ping the ZB from my host PC)

    WHAT IS STILL THE PROBLEM?

    Hi Wills,

Unfortunatly we do not have much experience here with Matlab/Simulink.

My suggestion to you wuld be to go ask your question over on their suppor section.

    Dear Josh,

What is the main entry point information from your workflow? My original intention was to use libiio system_obj with simulink but from my last post you see that the iio_sys_obj in simulink or Mathlab cant connect to iiod/(TCP/UDP) on the ZEDBOARD for many at least two weeks i have been at this point.

Please I know you are not matworks but you us ZEDBOARD even with mathlab or ADI tools..

What is the reliable workflow from AVNETs perspective?
