Unable to use JTAG on zuboard

I'm trying to use the ZuBoard for the first time with JTAG, following Lab 2 instructions.

I have a 60W usb-c power supply connected, as well as micro usb to the linux host.  The board is on, and I can see Future Technology in lsusb.  All 4 dip switches are ON, matching the configuration shown for JTAG.

I see nothing on /dev/ttyUSB0 or /dev/ttyUSB1 (both of which exist only when the board is connected and turned on).  Vitis error says can't find Arm.

All of the voltage present, power good, and micro usb LEDs in the guides are on, along with 4 red LEDs and very bright white LED near the DIP switches.  I don't see these mentioned in the docs.  Do these LEDs mean the mode is incorrect?  Is there a basic test for JTAG working?

Turns out to be a driver problem. I started from Lab 1 and there are some important details in Lab 0. For anyone else missing this: tools/Xilinx/Vivado/2023.1/data/xicom/cable_drivers/lin64/install_script…

I am able to get serial output if I use the QSPI image on the board.  I'm starting to suspect that Vitis is missing drivers or permissions.  The only connection available is helpfully called "Local" and has no properties.  There is no serial console that I can find in Vitis even though I see one referred to online.
