Hope this finds you well during this pandemic.

I tried to send you a direct message but could not, so I'm sending it here.

I'm hoping you can guide me along here. I tend to lean by using sample projects and have been using both the Advanced Tutorial Avnet Azure Sphere Starter-Kit: Advanced Tutorial .and the all 3 blogs in the Avnet's Azure Sphere Starter-Kit (Out of Box Demo... series. Through studying these project , I have been able to learn a great deal about CMake (config, Build etc.) Debugging, Hardware Config, A7 and A4 programming,on board sensor communication.etc.

Which leads me to my reasons for sending you this message.

I am using a Heart rate sensor from a Rasberry PI project and would like to use the sensor to connect DIRECTLY to the Avnet kit. I have sent out Inquires to the Azure Sphere group as described here:Sphere ADC Document.and Sphere ADC questions

I have received 2 replies of which one recommends connecting the sensor as quote "Try ADC pin on click dock first,"

I assume he means to Attach the purple signal wire from the sensor to the AN pin on the click header?

I describe this in my Blog Post.

Do you agree?

I'm stuck on the sensor Input now? Once I get that solved I can experiment on reading the sensor input from your examples. Help with that would be very helpful also, but I need to get past getting the sensor connected first..

Thank you for writing this post. I don't have VS 2019 installed but I am using VS Code. I'm confident that my setup is fine because I have deployed the Sample Hello World (blinking LED) app from Microsoft but I'm struggling to get this sample to run.

When I select a target, there is no GDB Debugger (HL Core) option - only Azure Sphere (GDB). Is this the correct one to pick, or am I missing something?

As you can see, I just have the one warning, no errors - that warning relates to line 14 in the CMakeLists.txt file:

The LPS22HH read error has been corrected and pushed to GitHub. Please update your project: https://github.com/Avnet/AvnetAzureSphereStarterKitReferenceDesign.git

Thanks for your patience on this issue. And special thanks to [mention:a8baf0ead6ce41e4acf9ef7b711444ce:e9ed411860ed4f2ba0265705b8793d05] who has a working LPS22HH example that I used as a reference to correct the issue. My original code was reading LPS22HH data one byte at a time, probably because of the I2C read bug. After the 19.11 OS update, my implementation was no longer able to read the device. I changed the project to read all the data in one call and it's working again!

Please let me know if you have any further issues,

After about a month of smooth running with the OLED display, two days ago LPS22HH error is displayed on power up. Cycling power didn't help. Wifi connection is fine but no data is sent to azure. Any hints to troubleshoot? Thanks in advance.

SORRY GOT THE SOLUTION!

Just added this line -> "ApplicationType": "Default"

in app_manifest.json

and then suddenly all my external dependencies were loaded!

If you have run into an issue with your Starter Kit where the LPS22HH sensor could not be read this Out of Box application would try to read the WhoAmI value from the device 10 times, and if it never clears, then the application would exit. We realize this behavior has stopped some of you from progressing, and to that end we’ve modified the application code to continue to run if the LPS22HH device can’t be read. In this case, there is debug output stating that the error was encountered, and the code will default to LPS22HH pressure and temperature reading to zero. Please pull the latest changes from the GitHub repository to get these latest changes.

The bullets below describe the changes . . .

• Detect LPS22HH failures (it did this already)
• On LPS22HH failure, don’t exit, but instead . . .
o Output debug

We are exploring other options to programmatically clear this issue, but since we can’t reproduce this issue, it will be difficult to test the “bad path” to see if the changes clear the issue.

(As a first step, try power cycling the starter kit to clear the error. If you have a starter kit that encounters this issue frequently, please send a private message so that maybe we can utilize your hardware to understand the root cause of the issue)

I’ve seen this issue myself a few times when I first started working with the Starter Kit. The only way I’ve found to clear the issue is to power cycle the starter kit. Since the power cycle clears the error, it’s been very difficult to debug this issue. If you have a starter kit that encounters this issue frequently, please send me a private message so that maybe we can utilize your hardware to understand the root cause of the issue.

It was not easy to get up and running but it works. This is all I ask from nice products like these MCUs. Anyway...

...

Um, I tried a LED example. It lights up!

P.S. Oh and should I run the main.c example in this illustration for any reason? I am asking b/c I am not completely sure what all that .c software does.
