I was particularly taken with the idea of using solar panels to directly heat the hot water using an immersion heater. I had not thought of that approach before and seems quite good as it would be a completely separate system from the mains supply. I might have to look into this. It is not clear to me whether you turn off the solar panel heating once the water gets hot enough. I assume you must otherwise it would boil the water. Do you dump the solar power in any way or just disconnect it somehow?

I also like the current sensor as I had been just looking for something like this yesterday.

Dubbie

RE: Home Control And monitoring using IoT

Fascinating writeup [mention:999e9593c5f04345a694c14ef31ef127:e9ed411860ed4f2ba0265705b8793d05] thank you for putting this together!

In terms of efficiency and energy savings, how much energy or money do you think you will save over the life of the equipment?

Was it worth your investment in terms of time and resources to achieve the results you have seen so far?

Best Regards,

-Kevin
