Hello, I was chatting with Community member, Kuya.Marc , and he is looking for a prototyping shield for the Freedom Board. Anyone know of any?
As I recall, wasn't the Freedom board Arduino hardware compliant?
If so, any Arduino shield should work.
Just a thought,
Back in April Joe Alderson put me onto this
Not sure if the same code (2311267) matches in every store.
Hi Mark - how about this for a protoshield?
It doesn't quite cover all the header pins on the Freedom Board (it was designed for the chipKIT) - you would be missing the PTB8 - 11 pins and PTE2 - 5 but otherwise it accommodates the double headers.
It is a shame there isn't a board that utilises/makes available the other pins, and at a reasonable price.
I have a plan, for one but haven't had time to do it.
So if someone is handy with pcb skills that is happy to come some arrangement ... let me know.
The Arduino offering is great but there are few boards available that connect to all the pins.
This is a shame as the board has more to offere than just the Arduino pins.
The board pricing is great, and with the addition of the headers is very good value, yet the basic shield offerings are more than the board.
What plans does Freescale have for shields?
a prototyping board with dual row headers to get access to all the FRDM pins
A prototyping board that gave access to all the pins would be should be available in order to compliment your excellent boards.
This is an example of a simple low cost one for Arduino (Freetronic protoshield)
It could be simply offered as a bare board and then users could choose to fit headers in order to stack, or pins in order to construct on the board.
The offerings from others don't give access to all the pins on the Freescale boards.
They are nearly twice the price of the entire board, which could mean that another platform is choosen.
Using an Arduino shield (prototype or otherwise) removes access to all the inside ones.
I also have an idea that would allow the use of two Arduino shields, that I'm happy to discuss ... but not in the forum.
If you are interested then please PM me.
