The RGB LED lighting shield from Infineon technologies is one of the first intelligent evaluation boards compatible with Arduino as well as Infineon’s XMC1100 BOOT KIT. It is designed to be easily configurable and combinable for different LED light engines and lamps, for fast prototyping and in-expensive evaluation of LED lighting applications.
The RGB LED Lighting Shield with XMC1202 uses a DC/DC buck topology and is able to drive up to 3 LED channels with constant current. The shield itself is powered by a programmable XMC 32-bit ARM® MCU with embedded Brightness Color Control Unit (BCCU, XMC1200 MCU series), for flicker-free LED dimming and color control.
The BCCU enables extreme low-cost but high quality LED lighting solutions, with minimal user code. The RGB LED lighting shield has also been designed to provide options for the evaluation of smooth, eye-friendly dimming, color mixing for different topologies, and it can be extended with for example DALI/DMX or radar.

FAQs

Are there User Manuals and Schematics available?

Yes, please see the following link for details on the product and it's accessories, http://www.element14.com/community/docs/DOC-67864#downloads

I want to use the free tools, do I need to know anything specific about this?

If you want to use CoLinkEx with CoIDE 1.4.0(or higher), CoFlash 1.4.0(or higher), CoMDKPlugin 1.4.0(or higher), you need to upgrade the firmware and install CoLinkEx Driver 1.2.0 or 1.2.1 at first.

Does the KITLEDXMC1202AS01TOBO1 ship in safe mode?

Yes, it does! The KITLEDXMC1202AS01TOBO1 shield ships with pre-configured safe parameters. In this mode, the master board send commands to setup the shield's current intensity so that almost any attached light engine will operate safely at up to 48V. It is also set for a minimum LED current rating of 300mA

What is BCCU?

BCCU stands for brightness colour control unit. This is a hardware engine that is embedded on the XMC 32-bit ARM powered MCU that controls the shield. The engine is automated and easy to configure and ensures smooth, eye-friendly dimming and colour mixing for different LED topologies.
