SAMA5D3 Xplained A/D conversion - what's wrong?

I have enabled A0-A2, but if I try to read the raw voltage using a cat of the Voltage0_raw file, I get a timeout. Same thing for chan 1 and 2.

I can see that the channels have been enabled by doing a cat of the voltage_en files. Is there further setup required?

The conversions extend from 0V to the voltage carried on pin ADVREF. from http://www.element14.com/community/servlet/JiveServlet/previewBody/55174-102-2-288224/Atmel_SAMA5D3_Datasheet.pdf Section 49

Did you apply a voltage at ADVREF? Please read the complete section 49 for other details and understand them for safety sake.

configure analog pin as digital pin in Sama5d3

Hi.

I have the SAMA5D3 Xplained. Would it be possible to configure analog pin as digital pin from the kernel?

I want to configure these ports to function as analog or digital. My idea is to use the analog as digital ports and to see values using evtest. Would it be possible to do it in an easy way from the kernel?

For the Enchanted Objects Design ChallengeI'm trying to get the ADC Hardware Trigger mechanism working.

I have difficulties with the ADC driver. I am unsure if the 4.7 and 4.6 linux Yocto Poky images have that driver installed.

I have 3 questions :

Is the ADC driver for the sama5d4 included in those Yocto Poky images?

If yes, what's the name of the driver (is it at91_adc)?

If no, is there an image around with the ADC included, or is there a way to get the driver installed on my board running that Yocto Poky image?

I did use a different generic_code.c, just downloaded the one from https://github.com/linux4sam/linux-at91/blob/master/drivers/staging/iio/Documentation/generic_buffer.c

I'm using the GNU toolchain that comes with DS-5 Community Edition

Invoking: GCC C Linker 4 [arm-linux-gnueabihf]'

arm-linux-gnueabihf-gcc -static -marm -march=armv7-a -o "generic_buffer" ./generic_buffer.o

Loaded to the board, and this is the result:

Oh thanks for the typo correction.

I use the Linux4SAM 4.7 kernel + rootfs image.

I took the generic_buffer.c file in the linux-3.18-at91 kernel and compiled it with a Code Sourcery toolchain (Sourcery CodeBench Lite 2014.05-29).

Is the image that you are using with the successful generic_buffer execution available somewhere in binary format?

(there's a small typo in the command line , for the devtree and non-devtree explanations: ./generic-buffer -> ./generic_buffer)

Your output is what I was expecting at my side too. I get a failure (using the 4.7.zip image at the moment)

Hi,

Due to move to DT, the device name has changed. It is now "fc034000.adc" for this device. So, your command line should be:

./generic_buffer -n fc034000.adc -t fc034000.adc-dev0-continuous -l 2

It seems to work on my side:

root@sama5d4-xplained:~# ./generic_buffer -n fc034000.adc -t fc034000.adc-dev0-continuous -l 2
iio device number being used is 0

at91_adc is actually compiled in the kernel (not as a module):

You can see it probed running this command:

dmesg | grep iio

It looks as if that at91_adc module is there, bacuase modprobing it works:

root@sama5d4-xplained:~# modprobe at91_adc

just returns

When I give a fake name:

root@sama5d4-xplained:~# modprobe at91_adb

it errors: modprobe: FATAL: Module at91_adb not found.

So that means that at91_adc is there...

Hi,

That is the guide that I'm following.

I managed to run the Software Triggered example without any issue. That just works perfectly.

I'm also trying to run the Hardware Triggerd method of that page.

All steps from the linux command line work, and I can see that there's data in the /dev/iio:device0 character device when I do cat /dev/iio:device0

But when I try to run the tool generic_buffer (I compiled it from source, as explained under 'Testing the buffer' section on that page), it fails.

I used these commands:

modprobe at91_adc
echo 1 > /sys/bus/iio/devices/iio:device0/scan_elements/in_voltage0_en
echo "fc034000.adc-dev0-continuous" > /sys/bus/iio/devices/iio:device0/trigger/current_trigger
echo 100 > /sys/bus/iio/devices/iio:device0/buffer/length
echo 1 > /sys/bus/iio/devices/iio:device0/buffer/enable

When I run the self-compiled generic_buffer test tool, it fails when trying to find the device by the name 'at91_adc'

./generic_buffer -n at91_adc -t fc034000.adc-dev0-continuous -l 2

Errors with 'Failed to find the at91_adc '.

I'm not running from my own compiled distro , but have tried this process on the following two downloaded images:

linux4sam-poky-sama5d4_xplained_hdmi-4.6

and the new

linux4sam-poky-sama5d4_xplained-4.7

I'm trying to enable the PWM-L0 on the SAMA5D3 Xplained. However, it shows up as an alternate pin configuration in the manual. So, my question is, "How do I select the alternate pin configuration for peripherals on the SAMA5D3 Xplained?"

Who has a working SAM-BA script for one of the ATMEL Software Package examples

I'm able to build the latest binaries (1.3) for the SAMA5D4 Software Package.

I'm looking for an example with working SAM-BA script and supporting loader binaries that I can use to load such a successfully compiled binary to the SAMA5D4 Xplained Ultra.

It would be great if you have been able to do this, and share your process to load the examples via SAM-BA.

(note: I have working examples for the linux builds that are available on at91. I can replicate a load of these, following [mention:6e474abc33b64a82aa78c9813503c962:e9ed411860ed4f2ba0265705b8793d05]' instructions. SAM-BA v2.15 running on Windows 8.x)

Who has created a project for the SAMA5D4 in Atmel Studio 6.x?

I dowloaded Atmel Studio 6.2 and unstalled all updates.

When creating a project, I don't know how to select the right processor and settings for the SAMA5D4 Xplained Ultra board.

and tried to build the projects in there as explained in the documentation folder of that zip file, and by following http://gnuarmeclipse.livius.net/blog/plugins-install/

I haven't been able to succeed a single buid. I used the command line, ARM's editor ARM DS-5, and a plain eclipse.
