I'm glad to see the reality hasn't yet caught up with the hype from the PR and Spin-doctors.

While human drivers do make mistakes, I'm not aware of a statistic that is used to show crashes per mile (or km).

Many people have never had an accident or more precisely, never caused an accident or damage.

I also wonder at the cost of these autonomous vehicles. The manufacturer has to recoup their investment and allow for the resulting lawsuit if someone believes it failed.

This all translates into a higher unit price, which ends up delaying the introduction.

I've had it suggested that it will reduce congestion, but a colleague said why would I have it drive me to work and sit an wait, I may as well send it home again.

I'm still happy to do the driving, and won't be shopping for one of these in the near future.
