I thought I’d take some photos of it as I explored it. My primary use-case will be to use it for d...

RE: Intel NUC with 7th Gen Processor – A First Look

Very comprehensive review, covering under the hood! Although it's not supported, VMware ESXi installed just fine, with no special tweaks at all! So, even with the i3 processor NUC version, ESXi appears to be fine, although I need to explore more (I've only run one VM inside it). I've added a section explaining what version I used etc., in the blog post.

RE: Intel NUC with 7th Gen Processor – A First Look

Thanks for the review. I'm impressed by how solid it looks and I imagine the metal chassis helps a lot with keeping it cooler with more powerful CPU's. My BRIX is a few years old, has a much slower CPU (Atom or Celeron, not sure which) and is very plasticy with quite a poor build quality, consequently I don't use it very much. I like that the NUC has dual HDMI output which allows for dual monitor setups which I think is very beneficial and it looks like it's got so much potential for expansion or incorporating it into projects. I'll definitely be taking a closer look at these when I get round to updating my bench computer.

RE: Intel NUC with 7th Gen Processor – A First Look

Nice First Look of the NUC. I recently set some of these up at the day gig with the Ubuntu image from Intel and it seemed to go smoothly.

As far as what else is out there, I would toss in the MAC Mini which is also an Intel based system and in the same price range.

It would be interesting to see how this compares in performance with an Octa core ODROID-XU4 or a NVIDIA Jetson.
