I appreciate your work with this tutorial! You mentioned that you got hung up on "Configuring lighttpd" what did you undo that allowed everything to work again? I followed the tutorial closely, but made a noob mistake in the PHP section and ended up starting over. Since I had already disabled those basic add-ons, I automatically installed lighttpd after, and ran into this problem. If I forcibly end the "configuring lighttpd", when I try and open /etc/lighttpd.conf, only about 10 lines of it are there. Thanks in advance for your time!

For those having trouble getting this to work on Debian cross reference this with the below articles. Also wherever someone uses vi you may want to swap it with nano (seems much easier edit with for me)

This tutorial seems great but any chance the commands can be updated for the debian distro now shipping with the BBB?

I've tried to get the PHP is working on the BeagleBone! text in a browser, but I got the error: 403 - Forbidden.

Can you tell me how to get rid of this problem? All the previous steps where made.

Help....!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Edit: Solved the problem, didn't comment out the fastcgi.server section...

What was the rationale for selecting lighttpd, as opposed to other options for serving web pages?

The lighttpd install hangs waiting for a password request with "systemd-tty-ask-password-agent --watch", I don't know enough about systemd to be sure, but it's possible that it should be using systemd-tty-ask-password-agent --watch --console" or that something in angstrom either isn't running, or is broken as you never actually get propmted for a password. It does this on my BBB regardless of whether I do it in the order you use, or disable the other services first.

I'm not clear why it would be asking for a password anyway when you're running the command as root.

I'll have a bit more of a dig and see if I can find out what it's actually trying to do and reply here if I find anything useful.

Great idea.

I might have to break down and get a BBB just to set this up to coordinate my data collection.

Definately will be looking forward to future posts.
