Hi Mr Cabe,

I am not a software developer by profession but have a good amount of experience with C for microcontrollers and Object oriented programming languages. I want to be able to develop IOT applications and learn a skill that will last. I made a demo IOT app for the beyond the phone challenge using Python.( see IP: 11 : Wireless Power Sensor Array: Final Presentation Submission) but am looking to get more serious work done like your demo on MQTT. I did a php script to use GET requests to send data as arguments and save them to the server, but I do not think it is a very elegant solution.

I am starting to learn javascript/jQuery and nodejs since these two seemed to come together and produce usable results. There is a project "WebIOPi" which uses the rest API and looks very usable.

I am looking on advise on which path to take while learning the software side of IOT.
