Hi Forum,

I recently have BB-VIEW cape along with screen LCD7" which has no brand name, but it work with

"BBB-blank-debian-8.5-console-armhf-2016-06-19-2gb.img" OS image with kernel 4.4.0rc via installing bb.org-overlay additional firmware which upgrade the dtc compiler 1.4.1.dfgehxx. IT all work fine. But I have following problem:

1/ BB Black using to BOOT from eMM memory instead of Micro SD slot. Which I do not want it has to boot from Micro SD only

2/ Since installing BB-View cape on the Beaglebone Black H Connectors A and B. The switch for "Boot Button" bas been obscure and cannot be able to reach. To have an access this switch surely to make BBB to boot from SD, which currently not possible.

3/ I am trying to find GUI desktop for BBB under debian but I cannot able to locate so I can replace the current image with Debian GUI based desktop, if any one can share there experience will be much obliged.

I will be grateful if any suitable solution can advise, please?

Tried to install on 4.1.18

First following the BBView Manual (copying zImage in /boot/uboot/ + dtbs in /boot/uboot/dtbs + untar kernel_modules.tar.gz + copy xorg.conf)

Result : nothing

Then followed this post (copying zImage in /boot/vmlinuz-4.1.18-ti-rt-r49 + dtbs in /boot/dtbs + untar kernel_modules.tar.gz + copy xorg.conf)

Result : screen light up at startup and then shutdown (backlight visible)

Any clue how to fix this ?

BB View on 4.1.x kernel ? the CAN communication on kernel 3.8.13 fails, any update?

update, there is problem the curser jumps to the left and randomly jumps around activating any thing it lands on.

it is not usable very dissapointing. it looks like a very common complaint.

cant find any other software that works with the bbview.

Both of the download links are broken as of yesterday so how can i get the patched code for the 4" BBview LCD. There is nothing there i just get an error. Just got the kits and now stuck.

The HERE link is broken, the other one looks like it works till you click it for the patched code and thats broken

After loading the newest BBB debian image and uploading your patched kernel along with modules and uploading dtb files, the ethernet (eth0) stops working. Tested with BBB revision C and BB View 7 inch.

The ethernet looks like it works (it does detect whether the link is UP/DOWN, so PHY seems to work), but there is no communication over the network. It does not read DHCP packs. If I set the IP address to static, it does not communicate (no successful pings in either way).

Once I load the old kernel back (along with the original modules) the LCD does not work (obviously) but ethernet works again. Tested with 3 devices (acquired from Polish and Australian suppliers).

Help! Your instructions don't tell me which version of Debian I need in my BBB. It just says "Firstly we need to download the newest Debian Image". I have versions dated May 2014 and JAN 2015. Which one is the right version for the BB-view-70?

I am wondering if anyone in the community has been working on the touch-screen interface in Debian? I hate to bale to TI-SDK with all the work I am putting in getting primed on Debian.
