UPDATE 2024-02-21 Serial Console

Powering the board by the 5V DC barrel jack the PL-2303HX USB to Serial Bridge Controller works for the serial console.

If you up for testing, I would be curious to know how well Java works on the BeagleV.

I created a very simple hello world test where I evaluated how quickly Java could compile a simple hello world script. I was surprised by the different compile speeds achieved.

I had posted this on the Beagleboard forum back in January when testing my BeaglePlay board (A53)

The lack of support for those who aren't already embedded Linux gurus does seem to be an issue for BeagleBoard. I suspect that as another new board has been released since the Beagle-V Ahead that you won't see much improvement in the documentation any time soon. Your guide is certainly great news for anyone who's getting to grips with it.

I think the latest Beagle-V Fire looks interesting, but it the likely difficulty in doing anything useful with the FPGA fabric that is currently making me think twice about trying one.

Thank you for posting this information. As has been discussed in other areas on e14, the beagleboards are interesting and useful but the documentation is sparse. 4 TOPS is impressive. I’m wondering how compatible the p8 p9 headers are with a beaglebone black.

I am wondering if you can access the board without needing a serial cable, I was under the impression vscode would connect over the USB port, to a windows or linux computer. But that may not be a feature of the Ahead V version.

Congrats on starting this task, I can imaging it's initially going to be difficult given that it's a BeagleBone-documentation effort.

Decent specs for the board however! Interesting that android tools are needed.
