Surely it is better to change the "debian" username to something else, or create a new user but then delete the "debian" user.

I was also curious about swap files. I know that with my old desktop computer, I was getting some lag as this computer has an old slow hard drive. I adjusted the swap config and it improved things. I spotted in the Ubuntu install guide a section on "Using a File for Swap Instead of a Partition". Was not sure if this is just for Ubuntu.

Cheers

Colin://

RE: Getting Started with BeagleBone Black

Emboldened by my positive experiences of switching over to Linux Ubuntu for laptop/pc and my desire to create and test a private Ethernet network (to hopefully add some bells & whistles to a road test), I eventually found my neglected Beaglebone black that has sat in a dusty box for good few years now.

I've just plugged in a mini USB cable.. and some twinkling blue LEDs have appeared as well as a flash drive / fancy icon, which is now on my desktop.

Happy days!!!

Opening up PuTTY I get a login screen... now that looks like a rather old distro.

[View:/resized-image/__size/296x305/__key/commentfiles/f7d226abd59f475c9d224a79e3f0ec07-47e0722c-e487-4467-bd07-08ea25cf9f10/6076.contentimage_5F00_206018.png:296:305]

Looks like my first decision of the day to make is...
