Looking at the BB AI Cooling Addon Board made me want to investigate the pin selection for fan power. The BB AI documentation is lacking in this regard, but I believe P9-8 is actually SYS_5V, which drops to 0 volts when the BB AI executes a 'sudo poweroff', and P9-5 is VDD_5V, which remains at 5 volts after the powereoff command is executed. (assuming the pinout and functionality of P9 is similar to the BB Black).

Hi ,

thanks for the awesome writeup!
Did you manage to get the GPIOs working on Your BB-AI?
I only got the PRU examples to work, all other interactions with any Pin end in a "pinmux missing" like message.(python and .js cannot access the pins confi-pin also does not work at all)

I haven't found any u-boot overlay(nor a guide on how to set it up) that fits the BB-AI so I wonder if others have that trouble too?

Added a users/passwords and WiFi section.. this is straightforward, it's exactly the same as for the BeagleBone Black.

And here I was thinking it would be so simple to get my BeagleBone AI up and running, once I had a USB C cable! Your blog will help me considerably to get mine going when I reach that point in my LDR camera project - which could be any day now.

I must admit that I was going to use the old 'finger on the chip' method for measuring the temperature. 60 C is about the maximum a finger can cope with so if I cannot keep my finger on the chip, it's too hot!. Your approach will be very helpful.

If you add a "watch" command before the "cat" for the temperature, the cat will be repeated every 2 seconds until canceled.

Hi Shabaz,

A great and well written up blog which will help everyone get going with their BB-AI.

The USB-UART looks like a handy debug tool but I cannot quite foolow what you've done. Did you make a board with the TDA1308 IC or is that purchased as a complete board - I think it is visible in one of your photos.
