The Analog Devices EVAL-AD5696RSDZEVAL-AD5696RSDZ Evaluation Board is used for evaluating the AD5696R TSSOP Quad, 16-Bit nanoDAC+ with 2 ppm/°C On-Chip Reference and I2C Interface.
The Evaluation board for the AD5696RAD5696R contains a SDP connection and software allowing the AD5696R to be controlled from a SDP board. The SDP Controller board (SDP-B) should be bought seperately (EVAL-SDP-CB1ZEVAL-SDP-CB1Z).
The AD5696RAD5696R nanoDAC+TM is a quad, 16-bit, rail-to-rail, voltage output DAC. The device includes a 2.5V, 2ppm/˚C internal reference (enabled by default) and a gain select pin giving a full-scale output of 2.5V (gain=1) or 5V (gain=2).
The device operates from a single 2.7 V to 5.5 V supply, is guaranteed monotonic by design and exhibits less than 0.1% FSR gain error and 1.5mV offset error performance. The device is available in a 3mm X 3mm LFCSP and a TSSOP package.
The AD5696RAD5696R also incorporates a power-on-reset circuit and a RSTSEL pin that ensures the DAC outputs power up to zero-scale or midscale, and remain there until a valid write takes place. Each device contains a per-channel power-down feature that reduces the current consumption of the device to 4 uA at 3 V while in power-down mode.
The AD5696RAD5696R employs an I2C interface that operates at clock rates up to 400 kHz and includes a VLOGIC pin intended for 1.8V/ 3V/ 5V logic.
Key Applications: Optical transceivers, Base-station power amplifiers, Process control (PLC I/O cards), Industrial automation, Data acquisition systems | |||||||||||

Development Tools
Software Development Tools:
AD5696R Evaluation Software
The evaluation kit for the AD5696R includes self-installing software on the CD. The software is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista (32-bit), and Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit). The software must be installed before connecting the SDP board to the USB port of the PC to ensure that the SDP board is recognized when it connects to the PC. The software allows the user to program values to the input and DAC registers of each DAC individually or collectively.
Hardware Development Tools:
SDP-B Controller Board
The SDP-B is a controller board for the System Demonstration Platform (SDP). The SDP-B is based on the Blackfin ADSP-BF527 processor with connectivity to the PC through a USB 2.0 high speed port. Controller boards allow for the configuration and capture of data on daughter boards from the PC via USB.The SDP-B (EVAL-SDP-CB1ZEVAL-SDP-CB1Z) is the required controller board for this evaluation system.Evaluation boards requiring the SDP-B will not work with the SDP-S controller board.
