Kit Overview

 

This ADP1048-600-EVALZADP1048-600-EVALZ evaluation board features the ADP1048ADP1048 in a switching power supply application. With the evaluation board and software, the ADP1048 can be interfaced to any PC running Windows 2000/XP/Vista/NT via the computer's USB port. The software allows control and monitoring of the ADP1048 internal registers. The board is set up for the ADP1048 to act as boost power factor correction circuit with a rated load of 600W from an input voltage ranging from a 85 VRMS to 265 VRMS.

 

This evaluation board features the ADP1048ADP1048 in a typical AC/DC switching power supply in an interleaved boost power factor correction (PFC) topology. The circuit is designed to provide a rated load of 385V/600W from an AC input voltage source of 85 VRMS to 265 VRMS AC. The ADP1048 provides functions all the functions necessary for active PFC circuit plus accurate AC power metering. It achieves near-unity power factor, low distortion of the input current, the output voltage regulation, over current protection, AC line fault detection and protection, over temperature protection, and power supply shutdown. It also can optimize light load efficiency performance using output voltage adjustment and frequency reduction.It also provides protection features like AC line fault protection, OCP and OVP.

 

The ADP1048ADP1048 is digital power factor correction (PFC) controllers that provide accurate input power metering capability and inrush current control for ac/dc systems. The ADP1048 is designed especially for interleaved and bridgeless PFC applications. The digital PFC function is based on a conventional boost PFC with multiplication of the output voltage feedback combined with the input current and voltage to provide optimum harmonic correction and power factor for ac/dc systems.

Software Tools


ADP1047-8 Software

This software is used to program the ADP1047-8. It is truly graphic and interactive. Power design engineers with no prior programming experience can use the software to monitor and quickly adjust functions like PWM timings, frequency, filter settings, protection limits, etc. The USB to I2C interface (ADP-I2C-USB-ZADP-I2C-USB-Z, order seperately) is used for communicating between a digital power management device and the configuration software that runs on a computer. It also supplies 5V and 0.5A to power up the daughter card / evaluation boards.
