Hello everybody, let me start by saying that I'm a complete newbie to the world of programming and microcontrollers in general and also new to this Element14 community. I'm here to ask for your help and YOU are my last hope. I am working on a project where a laser distance sensor(precisely the Wenglor PNBC006) will be placed over a car tyre ( at about 200mm) and it will be moving through a slide controlled by a stepper motor along the width of the tyre; this laser basically has to "reproduce" the tyre treading profile by measuring the distance over the tyre treading itself; my question is : HOW IN THE WORLD DO I GET THE SENSOR READINGS FROM RASPBERRY PI 4 and plot those readings in such a way that I get a continuous line plotted that reproduces the tyre treading profile scanned?

I have been through the documentation of the laser and it mentions that it support 2 kind of connections: M12 8pins cable AND an Ethernet one; from my understanding (based on the docs on the web) i can connect the sensor to a specific Ethernet switch and access the "control panel interface" of the sensor with an IP address which is provided in the Wenglor docs; till I'm ok; but how do I get the readings from the sensor straight to Raspberry pi?!?

Please help me out or point in the right direction! I'm quite disperate since I've also blasbt a couple of emails to the Wenglor assistance 2 weeks ago and did not get any answer back(probably i will never get one because of 'stupid and useless ' question exposing my ignorance! ..what a frustration!! I really appreciate any information, anything that could potentially point into the right direction.

Hello,

I'm J Garza, a Ph.D. student at the University of California, San Diego, and we're doing a user study on a schematic capture prototype we developed called TypedSchematics. TypedSchematics is a tool with a different approach and workflow for connecting reusable schematic designs, also known as schematic blocks. TypedSchematics accelerates schematic creation, with built-in design validations. The intent of the study is to compare the integration of schematic blocks for creating new schematics between Autodesk Eagle and our tool TypedSchematics, as well as to evaluate the schematic model representation of both.

We are seeking people with Autodesk Eagle / Fusion 360 schematics design knowledge and basic hardware protocol interfaces (e.g., I2C, SPI, Serial) knowledge to participate in a research study. The study will be run fully remotely using Zoom where you will be asked to complete a schematic design using Autodesk Eagle and then using TypedSchematics.

The Zoom session will last for 1 hour and will be scheduled based on your availability. Be expected to screen share an Eagle window during the session. After the session, you will be asked to complete an online questionnaire that takes approximately 25 minutes.

Your participation will be of great help to us in evaluating our tool, apart from giving you knowledge of current research that is being carried out to improve electronic design tools.

Using Eagle for schematics that aren't PCB

I am interested in creating schematic for items that are not PCB's. For example, boat, motorcycle, tractor, house

I have been using Fusion 360 for several years. Is Autodesk Eagle a fit for this application? If not, can somebody suggest low cost (free) alternative schematic software?

How can I reuse placement replica for similar circuits?

I have 10 filter and 20 optocoupler circuit with same packages with different refdes I would like to reduce placement alignment by using placement replica(In allegro it can be done by creating .mdd file) but in eagle i couldn't find the option please suggest me to how can I use this placement technique for similar circuit.

please guide me

it will be more useful to provide some other placement and routing guidance also.

I've been having a problem with the libraries on Eagle 7.6.0, All the libraries work except my "diodes" library, it keeps giving me this error, it's in the same path as all my other libraries, I've re-downloaded and installed it, nothing seems to fix it
I've included anything I can think of being relevant.. I'm out of ideas for this

Which pad should I use for hand assembly ? C2106 or C2106K

Hi all,

I am trying to make my mind up about which pad I should use for placing capacitors or other devices using just my hot air gun.

Is there any advantage of choosing a C2106 over a 2106K for example?

I see the K is marked for reflow and see it's a little bigger.

Is that the only advantage ? ie: More paste ?

Why would I choose one over the other they both seem to work ?

Drill without soldermask opening

Hello

I need to place an NPTH(Non-Plated) hole in our design. whenever we place a hole, it appears with a solder mask opening(tstop layer). And we don't need the solder masking opening.

So in eagle, there is an option for removing mask opening for pads/vias. But there is no option for drill without the solder mask opening.

Please help me out how to place a drill(NPTH hole) without a solder mask opening.

wie Ihr sicher wisst, gibt es viele Neuerungen und Änderungen seitdem EAGLE zur Autodesk gekommen ist. Seit Anfang des Jahres kann man jetzt auch in Fusion 360 Elektronikentwicklung machen.

Hallo Zusammen,

ich hab da mal ein Problem dessen Lösung euch sicherlich leicht fallen wird.

Ich habe in einem Modul ein Netzklasse "Bat+" und in der übergeordneten Ebene ebenfalls eine Netzklasse "Bat+" beide Netze sollen verbunden werden. Auf dem Board gibt es nun das Netz "Modul:Bat+" und "Bat+". Warum in Gottes Namen werden die Netzklassen nicht verbunden! Kennt einer die Lösung?

Subscriptions not supported in Linux

I discovered Autodesk Eagle subscriptions are not supported in the Linux operating system. This is disappointing on two fronts. One, I just invested a few days in developing a board using the software that requires a subscription to accommodate the board size. Two, I don't have a Windows workstation to purchase a Windows subscription. I have access to Windows but this year I eliminated the last application I used that requires MS Windows. I am done with having to use the MS operating system.

I took the board development to Fritizing to get a demo model to the PCB manufacture. Eagle is available in Linux for download but you can't get a subscription. Am I missing something? I wrote the vendor to confirm my understanding.

Anyone with experience with the product I welcome you comments.

After copy/paste from pcb, can I get a schematic?

I have carefully designed pcb layout. I need the same parts and layout repeated four times on the pcb.

I've found that I can copy/paste multiple times from the board view into a new design. But, I can't seem to get a schematic for the new design with the extra instances.

Is it possible to do this, or must I repeat the layout for the remaining three instance if I want a linked schematic?

Valid minimum width of trace flagged as error

I am running the DRC check and for a strange reason, the minimum width of my traces is flagged as an error when the value is equal to the Minimum Width value on the Sizes tab.

Any suggestions why this might be happening of how to fix it?

Unable to get a Quote for my PCB

I am a tyro with Eagle. I use it once in a while and forget everything between uses.

I recently got back in the game and designed a PCB and wanted to get a quote. The result was:

Not Found

Sorry, for some reason the link isn't valid or the content has been deleted. We've logged this problem and will aim to get it fixed

There was a ? followed by a whole slew of parameters sent by Eagle to this site. When I enter just the URL above, I get the same result. So when do we aim to get it fixed?
