The schematic files (.schdoc) and some library types (.schlib, .pcblib, .intlib) are directly compatible and can be opened by either application. The PCB does need to go through an import process. From Designer save as binary 5 format and then import into CS. Recent versions of Designer include an importer to read the CS .cspcbdoc file.
