default designator sizes in PCB

Each time I start a new PCB layout I have to faf around editing the size or every component designator, is there a way to set a default ?

Not permanently, but if you add a dummy component to the blank PCB and use TAB to set properties before placing then when you transfer sch to pcb it will pick up the default you have just set.
