See the Cross Selection section of that help doc. It says that you need to enable Cross Select mode from Home->Select->Cross Select Mode in BOTH documents for it to work.

Also, it seems to only work when the component are on the board. If they are off to the side of the board it doesn't seem to work for me sometimes. It's super finicky. I once had it working where I would click on the PCB and no matter what page the part was on it would zoom to it. Now I must have the page the part is on active for it to find it on that page with is a lot less useful.

Thanks again for your effort. I can move on for now and live without it. Seems like a bug though, that yours works only one direction (PCB -> Schematic) and mine only works the opposite direction (Schematic -> PCB).

I'm using latest version and do have a dual monitor setup but works with just a split window display on one monitor. I've had a look through but cannot see any other setting that might be relevant other than the one already mentioned (zoom navigation).

Interestingly mine only works from PCB to Schematic whereas you said it worked both directions. If I use the cross probe command it will do both but only PCB to Schematic otherwise.

I have tried that to no avail. Thanks for your replies. It would be nice to know the difference between my setup and yours... I have the latest CS version.

Not sure what setting would be needed. One thing to try is compiling the schematic after opening.

It works the opposite direction. If I click in the schematic, it zooms and highlights in the PCB. Cross-probe works both directions. Seems like I must be missing a setting somewhere.

Just FYI, I restarted CS and it did not change how it is working.

Sounds very similar to how I tested - the schematics needed to be opened and visible because they would not be automatically opened. Try a cross probe first from the PCB and then cancel and go to selecting a PCB component - I saw CS highlight (surround with a selection box) the schematic symbol.

Thanks for the reply... mine does not seem to do what you are proposing. Does it have to be in the same window? I have my PCB in a window on my left screen, and my schematic sheets in a separate window on my right screen. I have four sheets, so I have split my right screen so I can see all four sheets. In normal operation, clicking in the PCB is not affecting anything in the schematics.

The preferences for "Zoom Precision" say it is for when you "use the zoom navigation method". I don't know if it is in that method normally, or if I have to do something to put it in that method?

If you already have the schematics open it should highlight the schematic symbol as you click on the PCB component. Unlike full cross probing new sheets will not be opened so you do need them to be visible first. Don't forget that CS supports multiple monitors and split views so many schematic sheets can be viewed at once.

To get the above working you may need to change the Cross Select Zoom Option from File > System Preferences.

I realized that I should clarify... Cross-Probe under the Tools menu does what I want, but I was hoping for more of a "Live" option that would do the focusing as I am selecting and moving components in the PCB.
