Altium Showcases TASKING Toolset and LAPACK Performance Libraries for Infineon at Embedded World

Altium displays their TASKINGRegistered Toolset at Embedded World. TASKING delivers a full set of tools to help embedded software developers design and verify real-time, safety-critical, multicore applications. Special focus is on the latest release of the LAPACK Performance Libraries, co-designed with Infineon, aimed at simplifying complex tasks such as ADAS.

San Diego, Calif. - 27 February 2018 - Altium, a global provider of embedded software tools for automotive technology, is excited to showcase the full TASKING Toolset at Embedded World this month in Nuremberg, Germany. TASKING focuses on providing a full set of embedded software development tools for safety-critical, real-time, multicore applications in the automotive, agricultural and industrial markets.

TASKING has expanded its development toolset to meet customers’ needs with tools that improve code generation, enhance use of multicore hardware, and most importantly, fulfill safety requirements. From the compiler and code profiler to the safety checker and cost-efficient debugger, TASKING supplies the tools developers need for the ever-more-complex applications demanded by the rapidly advancing automotive industry.

TASKING Toolset & LAPACK Performance Libraries for Infineon

Co-designed with Infineon, the TASKING Toolset includes several tools that enable developers to maximize performance, especially taking advantage of multicore features and capabilities. The compiler and linker/locator are optimized for multicore operation and allow developers to customize their software builds to exploit all the performance of the hardware.

The newly updated LAPACK (Linear Algebra PACKage) Performance Libraries, including Basic Linear Algebra Subroutines (BLAS), is the first production set of LAPACK available in C. This means that developers can cut substantial coding time by calling LAPACK library functions directly in the C code to solve complex mathematical operations. The decades-long use of LAPACK ensures accurate results in a safety-critical environment. In addition, using LAPACK makes application portability much easier.

Altium developed the TASKING LAPACK Performance Libraries with Infineon to deliver state-of-the-art applications that are easy to develop and maintain. “Besides TASKING Embedded Profiler, the TASKING Performance Libraries are an additional area where both Infineon Technologies and Altium have been working closely together,” says Mr. Ralf Ködel, Director Product Marketing, Automotive & Industrial MicroController at Infineon Technologies. “Those Libraries will help Infineon AURIXTm customers to speed up computing complex ADAS applications, especially in the areas of radar, sensor fusion and Lidar.”

System Optimization and Improved Safety

In addition to showcasing the updated LAPACK Performance Libraries, TASKING will also highlight the performance-optimizing and safety-critical applications featured in TASKING. The TASKING VX Toolkit for GTM allows developers to generate complex timing and PWM waveforms, while programming in C enables users to quickly design and generate maintainable code. The TASKING Embedded Profiler, co-designed with Infineon experts, allows developers to easily identify and implement code changes, saving considerable time and labor. Also featured is the TASKING Embedded Debugger — a simple, integrated solution for code verification. At an accessible price, developers can now own enough debugger licenses to verify code functionality without delay or interruption in development workflow.

Safety is also a priority for any developer designing products for the automotive and agricultural industries. Products must be able to pass the stringent requirements of ISO 26262 to be sold into automotive applications. Among those safety requirements is to ensure that computing systems have freedom from interference. Developers can accelerate and automate analysis to ensure freedom from interference using the TASKING Safety Checker. This tool is the only ASIL-partition-aware static analysis tool, making verification quick and accurate.

Visit the TASKING Booth at Embedded World

Visitors at this year’s Embedded World will have the opportunity to explore all of the new and exciting features available in TASKING. There will be a live demo in Booth #4.240 each day (27 February through 1 March). Attendees can also drop by anytime to talk about TASKING and our complete set of tools.
