I believe that the har-flex would indeed be appropriate for this sort of application.

As you will see from the following link, there are many possibilities when it comes to “mezzanine” style boards, using har-flex.

There are also 4 different available heights depending on which of the combination male and female you choose and patch cables for when the need is even higher than the capability of the connectors. This should cover the height of any other components on the board and ensure that there is ample space.

As for your final question, “what is available and in what pin size”, I would direct you to our e-catalogue which will show you all the different components in this range and also gives you the ability to filter the results as an easy way of determining which part you require.

Hi Joe, I need a low profile connector to join several boards on top of each other. I need to add more components, but the PCB is almost full and I can’t increase the board size due to width restrictions in the final design. I can design vertically to incorporate another two or three PCB’s, but will need a low profile connector to fit it all in.

I’ve seen a sample of your harflex (I think!) connector – would these be appropriate? I’m new to harting, and haven’t found the details of what you offer in this range. What is available? I think I will need somewhere between 8-16 pins, although it could be more. What pin sizes do you offer?

Hello,

I want to know what tools/connectors and wiring I should purchase to achieve the following please?

I am making a custom device which involves connecting these buttons:

to my board. I want to do the minimum soldering possible and use as much crimping tools etc. where they can be used, but most importantly I want all my connections from switch and LCD above to be easily detachable. I am aware that the switch has the JST 10-pin connector and the datasheet for it recommends the plug and (wire) connection ends to use for it. What I need to know is what (ribbon?) wire/crimping tool options I have for this particular connector if any. I am assuming there is a set of tools (from JST?) and wires that would be just the ticket.

Similar applies to the LCD. I assume that I can solder a 16-pin male or female header for a given plug/socket type to it and have some sort of wire or ribbon that I can crimp the opposite side to?

For both items, at the board end, I could then solder similar connectors to the board – or to wires attached to the board and connect my ribbon to it.

The whole idea behind the exercise is that neither component is hard-soldered to the device and is also (hopefully) connected with the minimum of fuss (work)!

Finally, do you stock some kind of multipack multi-coloured hook-up wire reels for dev board work?

Hi Rich,

I am a new user of EAGLE PCB software (V 5.10) by CadSoft / Farnell / Newark. I was wondering if Harting

supports EAGLE library components for the following Harting Part Numbers: 09 03 364 6921, 09 03 264 7825.

These are DIN 41612 Type C connectors, 32*(a+c), male and female, for Eurocards.

Hi Patrik,

We call this part a surface mount housing. The part in the photo appears to have a hinged metal cover and High Construction (taller). I cannot tell the specific part number but I can narrow it down a bit.

Depending on if the part has metric or Pg threads the part numbers could be:

Hello,

I have a customer who wishes to find a hood for the following two mating male and female connectors:

Harting part number 09330242701 (female)

Harting part number 09330242601 (male)

The customer submitted two pictures of the hood, but they don't know the part number for it. I've attached the pictures to this message.

Can you please help me find the part number for this item?

I am trying to locate an Amphenol connector - P/N 00192053000. Our requirement would start with an annual amount of 500,000 increasing to possibly 3 million in 3 to 5 years. I am not having much luck locating this connector. Can you provide some guidance?

Hi Vincent,

I had to ask a colleague about this product and here is what I found out.

The part 09 69 181 7141 with PL3 plating (gold plating suitable for up to 50 plugging cycles) is available at a lead-time of 11 weeks. There are 144 contacts with a thicker gold (30 mi) plating currently available from stock in Europe as part number 09 69 080 5141.

One of our customer would buy your part 09691817141 (CONTACT, COAXIAL, RG178BU/196AU/404). We had not this part in stock, and delay of delivery is more of 11 weeks!

He informed me this product is impossible to find before this date from others distributors. Why? Are you an equivalent part? This product is not manufactured?

Hi Koh,

Unfortunately this question is a bit difficult to answer. For example, a typical screw terminated insert could plug to another screw terminated insert or a crimp insert or a cage clamp insert or a Quick Lock terminated insert. There are many possibilities and since there are 5 to 7 parts that make up a typical Han connector with each part having a number of options, it would have to be a pretty big table!

But I have some suggestions that can help.

First our website has a catalog information system called har-kis that has a bill of material configurator capability.

Another possibility is to phone HARTING at 847-741-1500 and request technical assistance. Or send an email to more.info@harting.com describing the connector. Either our Inside Sales Group or an Application Engineer can pick out the part numbers for you. They may have some questions but will be able to create a bill of material for opposite half of the connector.

The easiest way to get both halves of a connector at one time is with a product called Han Kit. This contains male and female inserts, housing, hood and cord grip all packaged in a box - everything works together. Newark offers an assortment of Han Kits in the current catalog 127 found on page 912.
