In January 2013, Honeywell extended the MCU (microcontroller unit) LCD (liquid crystal display) Hour Meters, LM Series, which are sealed digital instruments designed to monitor and record elapsed running time of equipment, normally displayed in hours and tenths of hours, to assure proper maintenance of expensive machines or systems. The LM Series offer a visible digital readout of elapsed time in a rugged, environmentally sealed case. They are available in various voltages and mounting configurations for use where accuracy and durability of an hour meter are required. These devices provide a large 7 mm display, high data retention capability of 40 years, a reset time of 1 s, and IP67 environmental sealing. Honeywell's LM Series MCU LCD Hour Meters may potentially be used in transportation applications including:

· Agricultural vehicles

· Blowers

· Engines

· Heavy-duty construction vehicles

· Heavy-duty trucks

· Material-handling equipment

· Mowers

Honeywell expanded its Limitless™ Wireless WLS Series portfolio in December 2012 with the new Single Switch Adapter that converts almost any electromechanical switch with low-energy contacts (i.e., gold) into a wireless switch. To our knowledge, there is no manufacturer that offers a single switch adapter for use with wireless switches.

· A user-supplied electromechanical switch is simply wired to the WLS Series Single Switch Adapter via the internal or external connections

· It is enabled for use with the Limitless™ WPMM or WDRR Series of monitors/receivers

· The Limitless™ Single Switch Adapter can use a specific or a variety of different switches, including small switches, switch with specific travel, pressure switches, and mercury switches; avoids mechanical requalification

· The switch can connect to a Single Switch Adapter via terminal blocks or via an M12 connector.

Honeywell's Limitless™ Series Solutions benefit remote monitoring applications where wiring or wire maintenance is not physically possible or economically feasible. In December 2012, Honeywell extended its Limitless™ WLS Series of Heavy Duty Wireless Limit Switches with an eyelet-pull operating head. This allows users to attach a rope, cable, or chain in the following types of applications:

Honeywell's Basic Board Mount Pressure Sensors were first launched in July 2012. These pressure sensors are designed for customers who want to do their own compensation, calibration, and amplification with a cost-effective, basic-performing device for the high-volume, economical board mount pressure sensor segment.

As of December 2012, Honeywell has expanded its Basic Board Mount Pressure Sensor portfolio with two new pressure range options: 1 psi and 5 psi. These new lower pressure ranges allow the sensor to fit into most applications requiring unamplified / uncompensated low pressure sensing. This device has 30 different pressure range options, in both non-gel and silicon gel, optimizing system performance and maximizing pressure resolution.

Honeywell first introduced its Zephyr™ airflow sensors HAF Series in March 2010 with a digital output version, 200 SCCM, a long port fastener mount, and a short port snap mount. This product is considered the foundational building block of the Honeywell Zephyr™ portfolio. Since that first launch, Honeywell has twice introduced additional products to the building block portfolio: October 2010: analog, 200 SCCM, long port fastener mount, and short port snap mount; February 2012: short port fastener mount, and an airflow range from ±50 to ±750 SCCM.

Honeywell's customers use the Zephyr building block with their own bypass solution. The bypass serves as the main airflow channel in the equipment, such as a ventilator. Honeywell's building block airflow sensor is attached to the bypass. When air passes through the bypass, by design only a small amount of air goes into the Zephyr building block because, due to its sensitivity, it measures a small amount of airflow. The customer must ensure that the air is laminarized (smooth) when it enters the bypass, and does this via the bypass shape and through the use of filters, screens, etc.

In December 20112, Honeywell announced its new Zephyr™ Digital Airflow Sensors that provide an airflow range from 0 to 20 SLPM and 0 to 200 SLPM. These new devices have been designed for customers who don't want to create their own bypass solution. Honeywell has affixed the Zephyr building block airflow sensor directly to the bypass, eliminating customers having to design their own bypass and saving them time and effort.

Honeywell's new Zephyr™ Digital Airflow Sensors 0 to 20 SLPM and 0 to 200 SLPM offer customers three important benefits:

· High performance: Tight Total Error Band [±4% reading] and high accuracy [±3.5% reading]

· Ease of integration: Simple electrical interfaces (regulated, compensated, calibrated, linearized); multiple mechanical configurations (manifold mount, male and female fittings)

· Custom calibration: Forward flow direction; optimized custom calibration for many gases (dry air, helium, argon, nitrogen, nitrous oxide, carbon dioxide)

Released in October 2012, Relialign™ RDI and RDI2 Series switches are mechanical interlocks used in residential door applications, such as elevators, dumb waiters, wheelchair, and man lifts that guard against accidental opening of the elevator door in an unsafe situation.

When Relialign™ RDI2 Series was originally launched in July 2010, it featured an internal solenoid control option that helps reduce complexity of the host controller, reduce power consumption, extend solenoid life, and reduce solenoid timeouts.

This product line extension allows customers to select an external solenoid control option. It differs from the internal solenoid control option that uses MICRO SWITCH™ ZM Basic Switches in the inside of the unit to determine when the solenoid should be powered, allowing an external controller to operate the power source for the internal solenoid and offering the following value to our customers:

· Simplifies integration: Allows customers to integrate Honeywell's interlocks into their systems that already have solenoid control programming logic or devices

· Flexible: Allows the customer the ability to customize their locking time intervals and power consumption

In July 2012, Honeywell announced the new HumidIcon HIH6120/6121 Series which offers a leaded SIP 4 pin package that allows for use in applications that require remote sensor mounting, such as in probes. The SIP 4 pin package is also mounted above the PCB, which enhances accuracy by minimizing the effect of PCB heat and allows increased air circulation around the sensor. These new products offer the same industry-leading Total Error Band, stability, and reliability as the HumidIcon HIH6130/6131 Series launched last year, providing customers with the lowest total cost solution for Industrial and Medical applications. The Honeywell Transportation Attitude Reference Sensor, TARS Series inertial measurement unit (IMU) is a packaged sensor array designed to report vehicle angular rate, acceleration, and inclination for demanding applications in industries such as heavy duty, off-highway transportation.

TARS-IMU enables autonomous vehicle characteristics and enhanced efficiency and productivity by reporting key data required to automate and monitor movements of vehicle systems and components. The sensor fusion algorithm can be customized for specific vehicle applications through onboard firmware, allowing movement data to be filtered for extraneous environment and vehicle movements.

Differentiation

The TARS Series is flexible by providing on-board firmware that can tailor TARS-IMU to the specific vehicle and application. It is durable with top-of-the-line sealing (IP67, IP69K) to withstand most heavy duty applications. TARS-IMU is convenient as it can be pre-configured at the Honeywell factory for immediate installation out of the box, or it can be delivered with customizable firmware that allows manufacturers to use a single part number across vehicles and applications.

Product Line Extension: Upgrade to MICRO SWITCH SZL-VL Series Limit Switch

Honeywell is pleased to announce an upgrade to the MICRO SWITCH SZL-VL Series Limit Switch effective May 16, 2017. The new product features include the addition of positive opening contacts (side rotary version only), enhanced sealing level to IP67; NEMA 1, 12, 13, extended the temperature range, and added CCC certification. The upgraded design includes modified seals, housing and a new design cable gland to improve seal performance. The housing design and mounting hole pattern remain the same. Any dimensional changes do not exceed more than 1mm.

These product enhancements will allow the potential for use in wide variety of applications as well as bring more value to our customers. The upgrades to the SZL-VL Series require that we introduce new part numbers and obsolete the existing SZL-VL part numbers.

Differentiation

With robust environmental ratings, the SZL-VL-S is protected for all kinds of industrial applications. IP67 indicates that the SZL-VL-S is protected against the effect of immersion in water between 15 cm and 1 m. The competition standard is IP65 which can only withstand low pressure spray and jets of water. The electrical rating of 10 A permits the SZL-VL-S switch to be used with heavier electrical loads than competitors.

New Product Introduction: Aerospace Proximity Sensor Platform, IHM Series

Honeywell is pleased to introduce the new Aerospace Proximity Sensor Platform, the IHM Series. These configurable, non-contact devices are designed to sense the presence or absence of a target in harsh-duty aircraft applications, such as the thrust reverser actuation system, cargo loading latch, doors, flight controls and landing gear. The IHM Series provides on/off output, and can be configured with an optional health monitoring output to the host system. The technology Honeywell uses in the IHM Series is considered an improvement on traditional Eddy Current Killed Oscillator (ECKO) topology that previously had been the standard in aerospace applications.

New Product Introduction: Sensor Evaluation Kit for Use with TruStability™︎ RSC, HSC and SSC Series Digital Output Board Mount Pressure Sensors

Honeywell is pleased to announce its new Sensor Evaluation Kit, SEK001, which provides an easier way to demonstrate and evaluate many of Honeywell’s TruStability board mounted pressure sensors. The kit interfaces selected sensors to an Arduino™ Uno Rev3 Microcontroller Board, available from most electronics distributors. Honeywell software, available for free at https://sensing.honeywell.com/sensors/evaluation-kit, controls the Arduino Uno Rev3 board to take readings from the sensor. Sensor measurements are displayed on the user’s PC and can be recorded to a file for further analysis. The Sensor Evaluation Board has sockets to receive TruStability HSC, SSC Series pressure sensors with I2C or SPI digital output, as well as the new TruStability RSC Series high resolution pressure sensors (all sensors are sold separately). The board is then plugged in as a shield board to the user-provided Arduino board. Five jumpers are preconfigured on the board.

Value to Customers

Quicker, easier TruStability pressure sensor evaluation: While Honeywell TruStability pressure sensors use industry standard I2C and SPI digital interfaces, the Sensor Evaluation Board and associated Honeywell software simplify sensor evaluation and demonstration by eliminating the need for the customer to develop any code before seeing sensor measurements. Note: Only one sensor may be evaluated at a time.
Remote mounting: In addition to being mounted on the Sensor Evaluation Board, the sensor can also be mounted remotely if, for example, it is to be mounted in an oven for testing or in a prototype product for proof-of-concept testing of the customer’s end product.
Cost-effective: Provides a cost-effective way to learn about the capabilities of our sensors so customers can make better informed component decisions faster. Customers are then able to perform a more comprehensive evaluation of the sensor without needing to develop additional code.
Expedites development: As the Sensor Evaluation Kit allows customers to test their product, this helps customers to expedite their development process.
