I've played a bit with Zephyr. I'm currently implementing on a custom stm32h5 board. My initial approach was to use FreeRTOS + baremetal + tinyUSB, but once I had to implement TCP/IP things began to get messy, so I decided to give Zephyr a try. The documentation is not the best, and this was source of lot of frustration to me but with time I began to like it. One thing that is specially useful is the testing facilities. You can compile tests to run in Linux, QEMU, or the MCU itself. The other nice thing is that if you decide to port your code to a new architecture, you may only need to adapt to a new DT

Well, BigG, thanks for this.

I was planning on taking a look at Zephyr and you've saved me a whole lot of stress (I don't think it's the right RTOS for me).

My first reaction is:

Oh YUK !

It's hateful - hideous - you can't even blink an LED without using heeps and heeps of unknown and un-necessary code.

(I'll calm down later but it really is moving in totally the opposite direction from me.)

I was innocently thinking that Zephyr was an RTOS, sort of lean and mean.

Thanks again for the enlightenment - I look forward to your next instalment.

Meanwhile I shall go on developing my LPA philosophy (Least Possible Abstraction).
