For smart metering development using Wi-SUN communication, if the sensors are linked to a Leaf/Router within the network and the sensor data is relayed from Leaf/Router to Border, the data at the Border needs to be transferred to the cloud. Kindly recommend Wi-SUN compatible gateway recommended to gather data from the FAN and upload it to the cloud server?

when in FAN when data is sent from border to router, the router is connected to MCU via UART.

Border (Tx) - tcps 2001:db8::2 1234\r\n

Router (Rx) - \rtcpr <2001:db8::1> 1234\r\n

Is there any command to change the Rx data to "tcpr <2001:db8::1> 1234\r\n"

Thank you for your question.

Unfortunately, there is no product that we can recommend. Currently, each customer has a dedicated gateway in their project.
Since BP35C5 has all the necessary functions for Wi-SUN FAN, a Wi-SUN FAN-compliant gateway can be prepared simply by enabling control it from a device that can connect to the cloud.

The module you are operating is working properly.
You need to use “ip” command to confirm the configured address.
By the way, which buffer are you referring to?
It's not clear what your concern is.

UART COMMUNICATION

Hi,

When trying to communicate with BP359C & BP35C5-T01 via UART from STM32F103RCT6 with Echo mode off. When query is sent a response is received, but when "Ip 2001:db8::26" is sent to change the IP address a response is not received.

The command "ip 2001:db8::26" is sent with echo mode off but still the is not response. But the IP address has changed to "ip 2001:db8::26" this can only be confirmed by sending 2nd command "ip".
Also is the any buffer available in BP35C5 module?

Commands must begin with a lowercase letter, therefore, sending the following should work.

"ip.2001:db8::26"

Driver installation

Trying to connect BP35C5-T01 Wi-SUN module to PC but the driver is not installing automatically, tried to install manually from the website https://www.ftdichip.com/FTDrivers.htm but still unable to connect the device.I am using windows 7 (64-bit) virtual machine. Can you help me with installation of the driver??

Thank you for your question.

The BP35C5 is enabled for echo back by default.

Echo back can be disabled with "echo" command

>echo 0 //turn echo back off

By doing this, STM32 will only receive BP35C5 responses.

Hi,

I have been trying to communicate with BP359C & BP35C5-T01(Slave) from STM32F103RCT6(Master) through UART without RTC & CTS but when a query "BAUD" is sent from STM32. At the receiver of STM32 both query and response are received together like "BAUD BAUD 11520" whereas the response should be "BAUD 115200".

Note: UART connection from through-hole group 1

If you connect the BP359C & BP35C5-T01 to another Windows PC (NOT virtual machine)

and the driver installs automatically, then this problem is probably on your virtual machine.

Please check your virtual machine settings and the following tips on driver installation.

Device driver cannot be installed:

- Are you installing with administrator ID?

Please try manually specifying the driver folder from Device Manager and installing it.

Please check the followings:

[Computer Management] => [System Tools] => [Event Viewer] => [Windows Logs]

If you have 3rd party security software installed, please try disabling it.

Try also the solution for "Windows found drivers for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install them." as follows:

Does that board have a USB UART? I couldn't see one...

Are you using a separate USB UART board/cable? If so, this isn't a Rohm semi issue, it's a USB UART driver issue.

You could try a different USB UART (some do not require drivers). Win 7 is so ancient, I can't recall what will and what won't work with it. You could also test your UART board with the Rohm module outside of the VM.

The baud rate of the UART is 115200 bps.

Refer to the datasheet for details on UART settings and peripheral circuits.

With the UART correctly connected, press the reset button (SW2 on BP359C),

If the host microcontroller receives the version information from BP35C5, it is a success.

When controlling BP35C5, “Users Manual” describing the details of each command is required, do you have it?

Please find additional information to your question.

Both the datagram size (UDP) and maximum segment size (TCP) of BP35C5 are limited to 1024 bytes.

The default value for TCP Maximum Segment Size in BP35C5 is set to 536 bytes.

To set the maximum segment size to 1024 bytes, execute "tcpopts mss 1024".

The “udps” and “tcps” commands can send “0123456789” and “abcdef” because these commands send hexadecimal data.

"gagang" is not hexadecimal data so it cannot be sent by “tcps”.

Question 1

I have change the network in BORDER. How to check which ROUTER/LEAF is added to which network, also how to remove a ROUTER/LEAF from existing network and add to another network?

By executing the “rplsr” command on the Border Router, you can check the Routers/Leafs participating in the Border Router network.

How to move to another network:

Networks are distinguished by Network Name.

If you want to move the Router/Leaf to another network, use the "netname" command on the node to change the Network Name,

then save the configuration and reboot.

Question 2

There are three data communication commands

tcps – Binary transmission via TCP
udps – Binary transmission via UDP
udpst – Text transmission via UDP

Since "revanth" is a character string, it cannot be sent with the tcps command.

If you want to send it with the tcps command, you need to convert it to ASCII code, such as 726576616E7468.

The udps command specifies binary data in hexadecimal. 54211 is not accepted because it has an odd number of digits.

It can be accepted if the number of digits is set to an even number, such as 054211.

Both "abcdef" and "gagang" these string have same number of characters then why I am unable to send string "gagang" in tcp.

There are specific sizes for UDP and TCP data transmission on the BP35C5 Wi-SUN module.

For UDP, the maximum datagram size is 128 bytes.

For TCP, the maximum segment size is 1460 bytes.

The reason why you are able to send and receive 0123456789 and abcdef is because these strings are both 10 characters long, which is less than the maximum datagram size for UDP.

For BP35C5’s communication distance, please refer to the evaluation results described in “15. Communication distance” in the application manual. Attached in the pdf

As a result of re-examining the information in "10. Connection Time" in the application manual, we have decided to correct the information in the application manual.

The latest measurement results are shown in the table below.

Average	38.0

Also see below regarding the connection time.

Each additional hop increases the connection time by a few seconds.
The maximum number of hops is 24.
As a point of reference, in our tests it took about 30 minutes to connect 100 nodes.

Hey!

What is the maximum distance two module(BP35C5-T01) to communicate with each other.

Also the connecting time for N number of nodes connected serially is

Minimum 33(sec) × N(node)
Average 70(sec) × N(node)
Maximum 177(sec) × N(node)

Suppose if we connect 50 modules it will take 3500 seconds (Approx. 59 minutes).

Does it take 59 minutes actually? Because 59 minutes to connect is very long...
