Samtec Sudden Circuits® are quick-turn, highly configurable, high speed flex circuit data links that provide literally millions of design permutations with standard product lead-times and pricing.

Design permutations include the choice of connector, pitch, gender, orientation, number of positions, length (up to 16.3” (414.02mm)), signal mapping, and customer specified signal/ground assignments. Popular Samtec connector end terminations include Q Series®, Q2™, Edge Rate™, and micro and standard pitch strips up to .100” (2,54mm) pitch.

Flex circuit data links can be created using Samtec’s Solutionator™ on-line design/build program (www.samtec.com/solutionator). The Solutionator™ allows users to build a flex data link to their unique specifications, receive pricing, request a quote, and place an order without artwork or non-recurring Engineering charges. Most orders ship starting 7 working days. A design can also be built and then saved for use at a later date. Samtec Expands High Speed Edge Rate™︎ Interface Family

Samtec has expanded its popular line of .8mm (.0315”) pitch Edge Rate™ contact interfaces (ERM8/ERF8 Series) for board stacking applications with a new line on .5mm (.0197”) pitch. Featuring Samtec's rugged Edge Rate™ contacts, these systems are ideal where signal integrity and durability are critical. They provide superior impedance matching, reduced broadside coupling and crosstalk, low insertion and withdrawal forces, and high cycles.

The ERM5/ERF5 Series initial offering provides from 20 to 100 I/Os with 7mm and 10mm stack heights. The system is robust when "zippered" during unmating. For perpendicular board applications, a mating right-angle socket strip is already in development.

The .8mm (.0315”) pitch system offers performance to 10.5 GHz @ -3dB IL for 10 to 150 I/Os. It is the interconnect of choice for emulation applications and specified by NEXUS5001.org, POWER.org, and ARM/HSSTP. It is also available for perpendicular and co-planar applications along with mating high speed jumper cables.

Pricing begins at $ .09 - $ .11 cents per mated line.

PTFE CABLE OPTIONS FOR SAMTEC DISCRETE WIRE INTERCONNECT SYSTEMS

Samtec has recently added polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) cable options for several of its discrete wire interconnect systems. This material’s ability to withstand a wide range of temperatures along with its low rate of outgassing, resistance to flame, abrasion and corrosion, long lifespan, and excellent dielectric properties make PTFE cables ideal for avionics, military, and other harsh-environment industries and applications.

Selection of PTFE cable for the following Samtec products can widen the operating temperature (compared to PVC cable) by as much as 45˚C, depending on wire gauge and system:

1) Tiger Eye™ Discrete Wire .050” (1,27mm) Micro Pitch System with Samtec’s high reliability Tiger Eye™ three-finger BeCu contacts and rugged latching system (SFSD/TFSD Series)

2) Power Mate™ Discrete Wire System with 5.5A per power contact on .165” (4,19mm) pitch (PMSD/PMSS/IPBD Series)

3) Mini Mate® Discrete Wire System on .100” (2,54mm) pitch, with 3.6A per contact (MMSD/MMSS/IPD1 Series)

New Right Angle SEARAY™ High Density Interconnects from Samtec

Samtec has expanded its SEARAY™ High Density Open Pin Field Interconnect family with a new line of Right Angle Sockets for perpendicular and high speed micro backplane applications.

Right Angle SEARAY™ Open Pin Field Sockets (SEAF-RA Series) have a

.050” x .050” (1,27mm x 1,27mm) grid array for maximum grounding and routing flexibility and are optimized to reduce skew and impedance mismatch. They feature Samtec’s rugged Edge Rate™ contacts which are designed for superior signal integrity, reduced broadside coupling and crosstalk, and high cycles.

SEARAY™ Right Angle Sockets are currently available in four-row (up to 200 contacts) and six-row (up to 300 contacts) configurations. Eight-row (up to 400 contacts) and ten-row designs (up to 500 contacts) along with a Right Angle Terminal (SEAM-RA Series) are in the final stages of development.

This system mates with SEARAY™ Surface Mount Terminals (SEAM Series), which has optional guide posts for blind mating, and a choice of tin-lead or lead-free solder charged termination. Press-fit tail terminations are currently in development.

SEARAY™ surface mount systems with up to 500 single-ended or 125 differential I/Os, coax cable assemblies with 180 or 240 I/Os, and high density flex jumpers are also available.

Pricing begins at $ .05/per pin in 1000 piece quantities.

Samtec's AccliMate IP68 Sealed Circular

Samtec's AccliMate™ sealed connector interfaces meet IP68 specifications for dust and waterproof sealing in rugged environment applications. The AccliMate system is available in both circular and rectangular designs with various end options and cable selections. Choose from Ethernet, USB, high density, standard signal, or power connectors inside an over molded shell. Dust caps are also available to ensure an IP68 seal when the system is unmated. Samtec Introduces 75 Ohm BNC System Optimized for 3G SDI

The emergence of the 3 Gbps 3G Serial Digital Interface (3G SDI) which enables uncompressed digital transfer of 1080p and digital cinema has once again brought interconnect Signal Integrity considerations to the forefront of high speed system design. Samtec, Inc. has employed its Signal Integrity expertise to help address these unique high speed requirements with the development a family of BNC connectors to be truly optimized for 3G SDI communications.

Samtec’s True75™ BNC connectors (BNC7T Series) are a tested and proven

75W + 3W system. They are available in Edge Mount Straight Bulkhead Jack for .062” and .093” boards, Through-hole Straight Jack, and Through-hole Right Angle Bulkhead Jack orientations. Also available is a True75™ RG6 Coax Cable Plug (RF6 Series) in Straight and Right Angle orientations.
