TE Connectivity Introduces New LUMAWISE Zhaga-Compliant LED Holder-- Offers solderless and snap-in features that simplify manufacturing and installation for lighting applications-- | ||
DARMSTADT, Germany – 14 May, 2014 – TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity, announces its new LUMAWISE Type Z50 LED holders. The holders join the innovative LUMAWISE family of products that offer a solderless, easy to assemble termination solution for the LED lighting marketplace. Today’s design engineers want the most efficient, cost-effective, reliable solutions, and TE’s new circular holders offer a quick and easy connection to an array of LED families. TE’s Type Z50 LED holders help reduce assembly costs, provide a quality solderless power connection and secure mechanical attachments, apply proper thermal hold down forces, and include a landing zone with attachment features for additional secondary optics. The holders are compatible with secondary optics, offering engineers a plethora of reliable LED design options. Our new product offering consists of three new products for Cree CXA Series, NICHIA COB, OSRAM Opto SOLARIQ series and Philips LUMILEDS. “With TE’s new LUMAWISE Type Z50 holders, engineers can bring their designs to market faster due to the elimination of various steps that were once the industry standard,” said Jeroen Iedema, product manager, TE Connectivity Intelligent Buildings. “Snap-in LED retention simplifies installation by securing the LED to the holder before mounting, and poke-in wire connections to the LED eliminate the need for time-consuming soldering. Design engineers can be confident that constant thermal down force is applied to the LED, minimizing outside influence from thermal plastic deformation due to high temperatures.” The Type Z50 holders are available with low profiles, as well as with optic attachments. The poke-in style features contacts that support 18AWG to 22AWG solid, fused and stranded wires. The holders are built with RoHS compliant materials, operate among temperatures ranging from -40°C to 105°C, have a UL 300V rating and have a flammability rating of UL94V-0. They are ideal for spotlights, down lights, stage lights, wall washers, and architectural lighting. “Our new Zhaga-compliant holders have a minimalist aesthetic design that is appealing to lighting designers,” added Iedema. “Besides the well-known Zhaga form factor, the flat low profile design enables even more design flexibility in the same platform.” For more information on the Type Z50 LED holder and the LUMAWISE family of products, contact the Product Information Center at 1-800-522-6752 or visit www.lumawise.com.
