Truly inspiring.
I remember being a kid and literally dreaming of having a scope. Back then the "closer" to a DIY scope I ever got, was borrowing a Forrest Mims book from a friend, and photocopying a couple of pages that included plans for a simple "solid state" scope. Never got to build it though.

Vlad Tomoiaga, a student at Technical University of Cluj-Napoca in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, has been passionate about electronics since he was very young. Growing up, Vlad’s dad gave him an old computer, and he regularly took it apart and put it back together.

In his last year of high school, he realized his new microcontroller had a fast analogue to digital converter built in and thought to himself, and then out of pure curiosity he made an oscilloscope. Then, while looking for a way to output the data he captured on his homemade scope, Vlad discovered TekScope PC Analysis Software. Tekscope lets you view and analyze waveforms, perform many types of measurements and decode the most common serial buses – all while remotely accessing your oscilloscope.

Using Raspberry Pi to Control Your Oscilloscope

Raspberry Pi is a single-board small computer originally used as a tool to teach computer science to students. It has since grown in popularity due to its compact size, low cost, modularity and open design.

Because of its limited computing power, the Raspberry Pi will not replace the regular PC in many areas. However, with its compact size, flexible I/O interfaces, low cost and built-in support for Python, it is an ideal platform to automate a lab test bench or a manufacturing test rack to control the instruments, capture waveform data and measurement results, and act as a hub to manage data from the instruments or remote access of the instruments.

This application note shows how to quickly set up a Raspberry Pi to automate a Tektronix 2 Series MSO Mixed Signal Oscilloscope and configure the instrument to control it remotely.

Where Are We Going after PCIe 6?

At this year’s Tektronix Innovation Forum, we had a panel discussion with two industry experts: Madhumita Sanyal from Synopsys and Hiroshi Goto from Anritsu. We discussed the challenges with the latest PCIe release and what may be in store for 7.0. The development and design of PCIe Express 6.0 is still unfolding and maturing, including the form factor standards, the test specs, etc. Yet, the PCI-SIG® has already announced, and work has already started on Gen 7.0. I am looking for how to create a signwave to accelerate an electric motor and calculate speed for when under load and maintaining considering currwent and voltage lagging the other when accelerating or generating.
