&lt;p&gt;Do you have an ocilloscope ?&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;You will need to take precautions re. isolation of mains AC voltages to do any measuring here.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;If you do not understand why this is necessary or do not know how to safely measure mains powered equipment then you will need to find someone to do the work for you.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;It will not be possible to debug this design without checking waveforms with a scope.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Is this a commercial project (ie are you designing something which you wish to amkes and sell) ?&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I was looking for a whitepaper about a detailed comparison of Vishay&amp;#39;s vcnl4040 and&amp;nbsp;vcnl4020 sensors such as a comparison of power consumption for each feature, and key differences between these two sensors. I did it by reading their datasheet myself but you know to confirm I just wanted to see whether there is anything to compare.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Vishay&amp;#39;s engineer team may have something about this issue.&lt;/p&gt;
