As Shabaz has reminded you - 3.0V is out of spec for this device - there is no reason to expect it to work correctly. It will of course obey the usual laws of physics, but unless, you have detailed information about its insides, you can't predict how these will manifest themselves - it may make prefect sense that the red LED fails to illuminate when the chip temperature is just at a certain point.

I don't understand which clock you are referring to - DIN on the diagram on the data sheet is a combined clock and data signal and the bit period should be between 0.9 and 1.5us - which is equivalent to 1.1MHz > fDIN > 0.667Mhz.

Check your waveforms on a scope (and post them here if you are still stuck).

We have the WL-ICLED 1312020030000 chip LED powered from a 3V source. The red, green and blue LEDs independently work most of the time. But occasionally, the red LED stops working, while the blue and green continue to work. We are controlling the DIN signal from a MCU, which is also powered from the 3V DC source. I understand that the rated VDD supply is 3.3-5.5V. It does not make sense that only the red LED should stop working when the voltage is below the rated minimum. Additionally, this failure is only occasionally observed. Has anyone else faced this issue. If yes, how was this resolved? Should the DOUT pin be pulled low or connected to GND, if not used? We are using a 4 MHz clock frequency for the DIN signal.

Have you checked the datasheet, to see what the max data rate is supposed to be? Was 4 MHz chosen regardless?

Unless it's a non-critical product (such as a toy or game) where there's no issue with a faulty indication, I think it's best to use the product within the specification, which means 3.3V minimum, not 3V.

Interestingly they offer 4 variants and they differ package, but also in almost all parameters. 2 of them permits even at 3.3V. One have different controller with configurable current gain and pwm (12-bit resolution in total).

Hi kmv , you could send a reset command to the module for testing and check via the current consumption whether the module resets, then you would see if it only works in one direction, for example. Proteus III SPI BLE module communication using PIC32MX470

Hello all,

I am using the Proteus III SPI BLE module and facing an issue while communicating it with my host controller i.e PIC32MX470F512H, while sending commands from my host controller to the BLE module using SPI protocol, the module is not responding it is in the same state.

Hi Shabaz,

Thank you for your reply, I had already done the troubleshooting by using oscilloscope and checked my host controller SPI communication is working or not. I was successfully able to write from my host SPI and in case of sending correct commands, I had also use UART and using smart commander I had send commands from smart commander to the controller and diverted it on SPI, also I had read the command which I have sent from UART, received correctly.

If you have any sample code or any idea how to do this task will help me a lot.

From what you say, it's not working at all! It could be anything, ranging from faulty PIC code, to incorrect commands, to incorrect reset or supplies.. or bug in your simulator.. the possibilities are endless : )

You need to do some troubleshooting; for instance, check the SPI output (I imagine there is a logic analyzer simulation component). Or look to see if you can find a working example (guessing this is college homework, because usually no-one in real life attempts to simulate a complete system like this, and usually real BLE communication is wanted..).

Yes and in worst case you can easily bitband this interface at almost any speed (ie. without any wait loop needed). I would also use 6-pin variant of europen addressable LED instead of 4-pin WS28xx compatible.

Oh - that sounds like it might use the WS28xx protocol. That's a shame if true.

The less well known DotStar/APA102 LEDs are far nicer to work with. The protocol is basically SPI so immediately compatible with most microcontrollers without a messy driver timings.

On my bucket list is development of a big LED system for my large bay window that can be programmed to create fairly intricate displays and effects appropriate for different seasons, celebrations and occasions.

I would be interested in seeing datasheets for these ICLEDs

I agree. The WSxxxx protocol is strange. I hope it doesn't become a bizarre "standard" in the same way the wonky Arduino headers.

IC indicates that they are addressable. I hope they will not be compatible with WSxxxx and rather implement new less timing-strict protocol. Implementing 0.4/0.8us protocol is always horrible experience which generates too many constraints on firmware (clock settings, disabling interrupts for long time, giwing away SPI and DMA just for LEDs, ...). Something like manchester with sync word for clock recovery on LED side would be much better, I think.

When we can expect more informations like preliminary datasheet?

Dear all,

we're implementing 10Base-T1L in our device at the moment. The device is to be installed in a switch cabinet in industrial environment and is powered via 24VDC external power supply.

- Does the 1.5kV isolation requirement for network ports apply to the equipment and if so

- How should one achieve the 1.5kV isolation when implementing PoDL, where power is injected via a differential choke? Shall a 1.5kV isolation DC/DC converter be used for the PoDL supply?

My design below is inspired by the Wuerth SPE physical interface at ⁣Single Pair Ethernet | Application Guide | Würth Elektronik (we-online.com)
