Andrew uses Adobe Illustrator for the art work and KiCad for the PCB design. There seems to be lots of steps (as with any interesting technique) and I'm looking out for your finished boards now [View:/resized-image/__size/16x16/__key/commentfiles/f7d226abd59f475c9d224a79e3f0ec07-b7db029b-1aa6-4d52-9293-55401960576d/4846.contentimage_5F00_1.png:16:16]

RE: PCB Art: The Scream

Fun project Frank! I think a lot of of us are frustrated artists. I know that my daughter is an amazing artist and that I truly envy the ease with which she can draw/sketch.

In addition to frustrated artist, there is also a bit of a frustrated construction worker/metal worker/wood worker/designer/painter/electrician, etc. within me. I really want to do it all.

RE: PCB Art: The Scream

Brilliant! I’d never even considered the possibility of this, even seeing that people put logos and other images on their boards. I suppose it takes an artist to think of these things... I do like the idea of combining it with a working circuit, something subtle rather than in your face (no flashing leds for eyes [View:/resized-image/__size/16x16/__key/commentfiles/f7d226abd59f475c9d224a79e3f0ec07-b7db029b-1aa6-4d52-9293-55401960576d/contentimage_5F00_1.png:16:16] ) Someone recently did an ‘agoniser’ circuit as part of a competition - I forget who, sorry - and that sounded like awful. Can’t wait to see the finished result.

RE: PCB Art: The Scream

Some very nice work. It'll be interesting to see how the physical board looks when you get it back.

I've been tempted at times to do a PCB business card. One of the things that has held me back is the fact that I'd really like some sort of logo / decorative bit that is actually part of the circuit, not just some isolated copper.

An ex-colleague of mine has a tattoo that looks like a circuit with artistically done PCB traces. It looked OK but if I had one the circuit would have to be correct too.

RE: PCB Art: The Scream

Hi Frank,

It seems to me that inside every electronics engineer there is a frustrated, or maybe not so frustrated, artist.
