Corrupt libraries

Joakim

Hello Experts! My name is Jocke.

I'm working in a engineering office together with 2 colleagues, we are all using Altium Designer.

We are in the progress of merging all our "private libraries" living on our individual CAD station to an server folder for us all to access.

We have start experience that when an update to a library is done and when you save the changes - the library doesn't get saved, the unsaved asterix * are still present on the library - this will not go away - I made sure that none of my colueges where editing the library at the same time.
If I look in to the file folder for the libraries - a copy of the changed library file (fastener.SCHLIB) but with the file extention.$$$ (temp file?) fastener.$$$ are present.

The only way to get around the issue as I found out was to save the library as a new file name, then remove the original library file and finaly rename the new library file to match the name of the original library file.

This is frustrating.

Can anyone share some light on this issue if you have experienced anything similair.
If you know there are any management system for library files to be used in an server environment would be appreciated.

Thank you for helping out.

/Jocke

Joakim Yes! use KiCad.. (it's free) or put your library on an NFS mount for everybody to read and only one person has write privileges!

Thank you phoenixcomm for your suggestions.

I'll look in to KiCad and try that out, I guess the challange will be to replace a software that's been used in different versions for 25 years with the company Slight smile.

    Have a great day.
