    Nice initiative.

However, how many samples are needed for evaluation? Also, what about software? Do we need specific license for the product software?

What about next iteration of the product itself? Is the certificate valid for that too?

for the whole procedure you will need one physical sample (exactly as its brought to market so professionally assembled as you will do for the full production) for our assessment and then one or more for the required tests depending on your product (EMC, RED ESD etc. these can be destructive so mutliple samples migth be requested).

The software is an integral part of the product and is evaluated together with the hardware.in some cases you may need to provide additional testing firmware.
but you will of course have to provide the source code of the firmware the device is running when its sold, and any that are intended for use with it that you provide--> the device has to be compliant in every intended usage scenario.

the license has to qualify as open sourde. within that realm you can freely choose. (we are quite fond of the newly released OCL v1 btw.)

any certification can only be valid for the exact product in the EXACT form it is put on the market. Any significant changes can trigger the need to reevaluate it in parts or as a whole-> the border on when this is the case is a highly debateable topic that can depend on very tiny details specific to your prodcut--> this is something people usually consult with an expert (like Smander)on.

there are a few FAQS on the site that may help answer any other questions you may have:  https://early.smander.com/faq/

    Hi,

Thought that I could do something with the following device (OR it's variations) I made. But it is not near to product looking at the certification process.

thsi might be indeed a bit to far away to takle certification. But if you are seriously thinking about getting it towards product ready stage you could use this other service(its prety much the first part of GetSmandered as standalone thing): early.smander.com/.../
and learn what regulations will apply and what is needed as the first few steps before comitting.
so you know what you are getting into.

Hum. Complex. haha. But also the fact that I am not in the EU or USA at the moment.

I am serious about making a product but first would like to do something that is simple to get certificate for.
